Cuba has a new Internet, but still disconnected
[link to www.voxxi.com]

The Internet in Cuba is characterized by a low number of connections, limited bandwidth, censorship, and high cost. Cuba has an Internet penetration of 1 to 3 percent; making it the lowest rate in Latin America and one of the lowest in the world. The Internet in Cuba has stagnated since its introduction in the 1990s because of the U.S. embargo, lack of funding, and government interaction. The Cuban internet is also among the most tightly controlled in the world [link to en.wikipedia.org]

HAVANA — Cuba apparently experienced a phenomenon similar to but smaller than the meteorite that detonated over Russia this week, island media reported, with startled residents describing a bright light in the sky and a loud explosion that shook windows and walls.

There were no reports of any injuries or damage such as those caused by the Russia meteorite, which sent out shockwaves that hurt some 1,200 people and shattered countless windows.

Here is something else to ponder.

On any given night there are hundreds if not thousands of flights in the air in the Florida- Caribbean area.

Not one pilot report not one passenger report.

That is all.

They allege that this happened on Tuesday evening, which is more than two days prior to the meteor that hit Chelbayinsk. I just find it weird how such an event wasn't bought up during Wednesday morning on Cuba news. It could have happened but I wonder if some people/state media are just exaggerating a daily bolide to make it 'fit in' with Friday's event.
