why do people not question authority? | |
stillhere User ID: 29204297 United States 02/16/2013 11:06 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I agree. As a child I was taught to "obey" to respect your elders, still call anyone more than 10 years older than me Mr. or Mrs. never was big on calling friends parents by their first names or teachers. But this blind obedience is dangerous, no man should blind another to what is right. Everyone is at risk when we give up our will to another. I believe women are especially vulnerable as we are taught to always be considerate of others feelings. Kind of off topic, but I see how we are defeated as a people when we allow ourselves to be divided. It doesn't matter which side we choose in any separation, when we choose a side we have been deceived and have lost our way. It is in my nature to "believe" what I'm told, and even though I don't believe much any more I'm catching myself daily with beliefs I should have questioned. "You can bend it and twist it... Yes I Did !!!! User ID: 34561824 United States 02/16/2013 11:15 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I have four grown children and I taught them all to question authority !! Any time they did, I always gave them the benefit of the doubt, too. Also, after doing some fact checking, if I felt they were right... I stood up with them and covered their backs. - I gave my kids the respect that I expected from them. What I told them was this: Not all adults are always right. - just me LOL Not everyone in uniform has your best interest in mind. Always be respectful, but question EVERYTHING. Seems to have worked. They are all free thinking, rational, intelligent, productive citizens. "Great spirits have always encountered violent opposition from mediocre minds." ~ Albert Einstein |

I was taught how to read between the lines but I was not allowed to question outright. It was more of negotiation. That is why MIND games are not exactly going to work unless I allow them to. it's just the rules of science. you stay even you don't get out of balance. Maybe he has to deal with teachers who are only collecting a paycheck and not being bothered to "teach". If he is intelligent and disciplined, you might allow him to check out some of the "online high schools" that work in conjunction with local school districts. One of my granddaughters just graduated doing that, and she has already been accepted for college (shoot... I can't remember which one. LOL) Anyway, it worked for her and she's very intelligent.
