Eerily quiet tonight, kind of creepy?
It is eerily quiet around here, to a point where a few minutes ago, I heard a jet fly by in the sky, which is unusual for this time of night to hear one indoors.

I haven't witnessed such quiet like this in a long time, almost like a calm before the storm type quiet. Anyone else going through this?

Not sure if it's just because this week was so crazy with all the stuff happening around the world, but it's unnerving that everything is so calm, too calm. It's giving me the heebie jeebies!

I was just thinking the same thing. Last night there were frantic threads about meteors and fireballs and earthquakes and tonight...nada

I know. It's been such a crazy week, Chris Dorner, The Pope, Asteroid/Meteorites hitting earth, just to name a few crazy events. Normally quiet would be welcome over here, but tonight it's making me nervous. It just doesn't feel right, for some reason.

You really need to go to a pub near you. That's where all the noise is.

Re: Eerily quiet tonight, kind of creepy?
Sounds weird outside tonight.
Temps are in the low 20s and very light winds.I opened the door earlier and it sounded like leaves on the trees rustling but there are no leaves.
Like heavy sleet falling but no precipitation in the area.
Eerie sounding at night lately.Dead silence most the time.
Another thing is little crazy bursts of wild wind that lasts like 2 or 3 minutes then just goes away.

Yah it is a strange night. I live in the flight path of Pearson Int'l Toronto Airport. There was a snow storm centered basically overtop and dumped 10 or 15 cm of snow just in the one area. Almost like a cartoon. Flights cancelled and re routed to Ottawa..Never heard of a mini storm over one spot.

We've said that the last couple of nights. No crickets, none of the usual night sounds. It's like way tood quiet. I was thinking about how quiet it can be before an earthquake. Here on the Big Island, there are always night sounds.

That's strange not hearing crickets and such outside in Hawaii. It's quiet here but its snowing, which always seems to produce a muffling effect.

They see all that dirt and smoke burning in the sky 12 miles high over Russia, and they know that this is only the beginning.

Strangely quiet around downtown Phoenix AZ tonight. I must admit it's a more than a little eerie...calm before the storm kind of feeling.

Good to know that I wasn't the only one experiencing this tonight. Seems like it's quiet all over the US and parts of Canada, at least from what's written in this thread. Hopefully all stays quiet for a while, I think we could all use a break from the scares and crazy news, lol. Have a great night everyone, sweet dreams, and thanks for all the responses. hf

It is very quiet in North Alabama too. I went to the store around 10:30 PM CST and was surprised that the streets were clear. Hardly any cars on the road or people out, and usually it is hopping this time of night on a Saturday.

On a side note, I lived in Phoenix from 89 to 94 and loved it there then. I don't ever remember it being quite. Lol. :)

Lack of cars driving by was also a bit strange here as well. I live in the country, so you hear when a car goes by late at night. Usually there are a few, from kids to folks who work mid shifts and come home around midnight. Last night, I swear, I didn't hear one car. On a Saturday night?!
