No. The chuch I belong to doesn't claim they invented the Bible, nor do they worship a man as the Holy Father, nor do they kiss a mans hands and bow down to him, nor do they practice religion in what amounts to golden palaces among golden relics and statues and "saints", nor do they pray to mother mary as a goddess, nor do they hold beer raffles and bingo nights, nor do they offer absolution of sin by confessing to a man in a box and praying to mary.

So tell us then what church/denom you belong to?

Church of Christ. Churches of Christ doesn't have man made "doctrine", we follow the Bible.

TO MEMBERS OF THE CHURCH OF CHRIST:

Please remember, this is not an attack, it's a defense. Your denomination has said all other denominations are either carnal or demonic and all their members have a one way ticket to hell. In that egocentric theology your leaders have replaced Jesus with their denomination. In their eyes, they are the Way, the Truth and the Life and that's why they are not a denomination (part of the church) because they ARE the church.
Bottom line? If you can serve the Lord with all your heart in the Church of Christ denomination and stay strong in Him until the day you die, then stay in the Church of Christ denomination. The web site is not for you, then. It is for people who are in the Church of Christ denomination that are looking for more of Jesus. They are tired of a religion, and want a true, deep, sincere relationship with God. So if you have been wondering, “Is this all there is?” The answer is, no. Jesus has a lot more for you than just a "religion." He wants to have a real, vital, genuine relationship with you, and it is just a prayer away!!

But read the ending, from another site:

Well, the government has never interfered before so why worry about it? This question is totally irrelevant to the problem. It is not a matter of whether or not the state has taken any action, but they have the power to step in at any time they so desire.

Another matter that is being subtlety placed before the general public via the media is, churches should share their responsibility in caring for the poor and homeless. The government will cost share this heavy expense with churches if they are a political subdivision. The government has every right to demand payment whenever they please.

The church of our Lord Jesus Christ is holy and answers only to her head or her husband! In answer to the question, no one has the right to forfeit the sovereignty of the church to anyone and that includes the state. Amen. Any church who has violated the sacredness of God's Holy Writ is no longer his, but wards of the state.

My point is not against your particualar denomonation...

Our three biggest concerns about the church of Christ denomination is their claim to be the only true Christians, their rejection of the present day ministry of the Holy Spirit and their hyper-legalism. I can relate to and attest to the burden of that legalism, for it was while I was a preacher in the Church of Christ that I committed suicide. The Lord miraculously saved me and set my feet on the path of true salvation by Grace through Faith.

I had been a member of the CoC for several years before I started preaching. One of the Elders had been tutoring me and asked for me to fill in for him one day and things just took off from there. The problem was that I studied the Scriptures with an opened mind rather than through CoC stained lenses. So I began to ask questions:

"How did the thief on the cross get to heaven without being baptized?"

"How did Cornelius get saved before he was water baptized?"

"Why did Paul say that the Lord did not send him to baptise but to preach the Gospel?"

"Why do we forbid to speak in tongues?"

"Why do we reject musical instruments if God never said to?"

"Why do we teach that we are the only true Christians?"

"Why do we never talk about the Holy Spirit when he is mentioned on virtually every page of the New Testament?"

The list goes on and on. The problem was that I wasn't getting any answers. Sure, they gave me the typical CoC answers, but they were not Biblical or even logical.

You'll pray for me, that's nice. If it doesn't work then do I get burned at the stake? You can pray to Saint Ignatius, light all the candles and sprinkle all the holy water you want, we're never coming back.

Pray for yourself, that one day you work yourself free from Satan's grip.

Oh no... A scandal in your church??

The Rev. Keith Whitney said the Camarillo Church of Christ has faced its share of challenges but has now healed and is ready to move forward and grow.

Whitney arrived to lead the church in spring 2007 only to find himself a few months later facing a scandal that would cripple the church for years.

The church’s youth pastor, Mark McDowell, was arrested on charges of sexually molesting multiple teenage girls over the period of approximately eight years.

A few of the victims were members of the church but others were not affiliated.

McDowell pleaded guilty to the charges, served jail time and is now a registered sex offender.

“It was a period of rapid decline and heartbreak,” Whitney said.

The incident had a detrimental effect on the church. The congregation shrunk from nearly 200 members to 50.
 Quoting: MaxMad

What's your point?

An evil person, cleary. Disgusting. VERY.

But what does that have to do with DOCTRINE? The Catholic Church's man made doctrine, evil throughout history, etc that I've outlined in my other posts. No comments there?

You're wanting to lash out at those who have been calling the Pope a pedo? Well...so far I haven't even touched on that (NO PUN INTENDED). I've only been discussing doctrine.

Oh and if you're wanting to compare scandals, I imagine the THOUSANDS of scandals in the Catholic Church point to a bigger problem among the church itself, than you digging up a random single episode of an evil person in another ministry. Am I disgusted, yes. You failed to make your point if you think finding an instance of evil in one church is the same as the widespread problems within the Catholic Church, and not just with child molestation.

Yet Catholics dont criticize your churches when over 50k Baptist ministers left the church last year for "inappropriate" behavior... Or when Episcopolians (Joe Piscopo's) elect homosexual bishops... Its none of our business-that YOUR church and it would be offensive to you and your church...

Leave it alone... Your NOT catholic move along!!! Catholics dont care to talk about Baptists, Lutherans, or Joe Piscopo's so why you so eager to talk about their church? You believe what you want and they will be believe what they want...
 Quoting: MaxMad

I'm sure there a lot of solid Christians in the Catholic church, but Rome is the end-times center stage for the appostate church. Rome ruled most of the known world at one point and the direct geopolitical descendent of that former beast empire is the Vatican. Doesn't matter what denomination you chose to follow, the seat of power of the catholic church is worth watching and important developements and decisions worth noting. Even by it's own catholic "prophecy" of popes by St Malachy, the next pope is to be the last. So yeah, anybody with a brain and honest spiritual insight should be interested in what is happening with the head of the catholic church right now.

"God forbid we should ever be 20 years without such a rebellion. The people cannot be all, & always, well informed... If they remain quiet under such misconceptions it is a lethargy, the forerunner of death to the public liberty... Let them take arms... What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots & tyrants. " - Thomas Jefferson in 1787

So yeah, anybody with a brain and honest spirital insight should be interested in what is happening with the head of the catholic church right now.

To be clear, which version of the New Testament were you talking about? Are you aware there are 100+ different versions of the Bible?

Re: why are protestants so eager to weigh in on the pope???
Why? Because we have to put up with that filthy vile Catholic church that once slaughtered us by the millions during The Inquisition. Which, as a matter of fact, is not over. The Papal bull that started it all of has never been rescinded. It's still in effect, lying dormant for the day they some filthy pig pope decides to start it all up again.

We have an interest in this too. A very deep interest.

Church of Christ. Churches of Christ doesn't have man made "doctrine", we follow the Bible.

Don't know if you're talking to me, or the poster I asked if they were a corporation. I have no denomination. Seems they all lie and deceive, criticize others for the same things they do and rake in the money, and only giving lip service to God.

I don't see how a corporation is following the Bible. Doesn't it say Christ is the head of the church? Just a couple of scriptures that seem that a corporation, by merit of the legal definition that, "The State is the sole authority and sovereign head over the corporation" would disqualify that religion.

Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues.
-Revelation 18:3-4
