Just a guess mind you. The shock wave shook the car enough to set off the alarm?

Most car alarms have bump sensors so that if the car is hit by anything the alarm will sound. The shockwave would set them off

Many car alarms have shock sensors.

Vibration sets them off. I've seen them set off by jets flying low overhead.

Just depends on the sensitivity settings.

Happens during the forth of July alot

Sound vibration from something travelling at such high velocity overhead, possibly and probably breaking the sound barrier. When I lived on the East Coast near VA, and the fighter jets would make practice runs up and down from DC to NC and back again...the boom would set off car alarms all the time.

Same reason a car alarm can go off if a loudly rumbling truck drives by, such as dumb trucks and such

It made a shock wave strong enough to break windows, setting of car alarms was nothing.
