Labor Unions Want Out of Obamacare! | |
| Anonymous Coward User ID: 34146475 02/17/2013 06:29 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Here's the story: Quoting: The Dudester Unions will be forced to cover stuff under Obamacare that they were/are not covering under their current plans. That's the real reason they want out. They knew this all along so what they want now is either an exemption from covering certain items, or government subsidies. In the end the union will get what they want because they are in tight with the Democrats. No. Unions only care about membership and dues. This was the plan all along. Unions will get government subsidies to maintain their current health plans. Obamacare will suck. This will encourage millions to join Labor Unions to get the better healthcare. It will encourage workers to agitate to Unionize their workplace. It will encourage those in "right to work" states to lobby their legislators to make Unions mandatory. It's a long-range plan. This is part of it. |

This is problematic because the bill was started in the Senate. Tax bills cannot start in the Senate. Penalty bills can. A lawsuit has already been filed calling this into question. The ruling included a poison pill. |
| Anonymous Coward User ID: 34340614 02/17/2013 06:56 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I've been in one going on 20yrs, back when I "organized" it just seemed the best thing for myself and young family due to the fact that the best electrical contractors in my area are signatory even in a right to work state. I'm pretty close to ending my "relationship" with the IBEW, can't stand the BS and to make matters worse they are backing gun control now. Quoting: Will Munny Also I don't care what anyone's opinion is, so before you spout off about me being in the IBEW just know I don't give two shits about your opinion. I did the best thing for my family and if I had to do it over I wouldn't change a thing. Was it 'really' the best thing? Look where we (you) are now - a country in the crapper... |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 30978854 only thing is insurance companies won't keep you Yeah Obama's exact words..."If you have an insurance plan you like, you can keep it..." Yeah you can, but it probably won't be eligible for the Obamacare Gold, Silver, or Bronze standards...which means you will get to keep your insurance, but have to pay the tax to the government as well... THEN of course, when they start forcing insurance companies to allow people with pre-existing conditions into plans next year, and that health insurance plan you like so much will triple in cost...and you'll get to pay that too!!! It already has. I have had the same insurane policy through work for 5 years. 5 years ago it cost me $120/mo now it costs me $340/mo. Not to mention my office visit co-pay has doubled and my prescriptions co-pay has doubled. But I'd rather keep what I have than go to Obamacare. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1277109 I agree.......... On the other hand if/when you need expensive health care just go to a hospital get treated and pay as you can even if its only $5.00 a month! FUCK the system back! Then when you have expensive health care you can always tell your doctor to write DAW for brand name drugs. Have your insurance pay hundreds more for trivial reasons at the cost of nothing to you. |
| HJTRAS User ID: 26396568 02/17/2013 08:06 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | [link to www.washingtontimes.com] Quoting: American Sith: Darth Shillerus Major unions like the AFL-CIO and the Teamsters are now demanding that they be allowed to stay on their current health care plans and receive government subsidies to cover the increased costs some of Obamacare’s provisions will impose on lower-income workers. They want to eat their government cake and have it too. What else is new? Who would foot the bill? You guessed it: We, the taxpayers. So let me get this straight, you supported a bill you didn't read. You bullied and cajoled your rank and file to support it. You praised your Magic Mocha Man. And now, after you realize that you won't get jack shit in the way of healthcare under Ole Bammy Care, you want out? Well, I'd advise you to follow the link... A little history here, my grand father (Irish catholic) was a big time union man was on the international chairman of the board for his union. He was even on Nixon's List. He fought the hard battles in the day no doubt. He and I had many union talks including my disagreement with him that democrats are your ticket. He was a democrat, he even convinced me that Jimmy Carter was a godsend. Well I didn't vote. Still had reservations about the democrats. I talked about how the Kennedys tried to take down the teamsters. Didn't matter, he was democrat through and through. My dad is now an Obama supporter and devout Catholic. He is a union man also. So here I am a right wing anti-liberal. I went totally against my upbringing. My dad was so influenced by his father in law that a German protestant turned Devout Irish catholic. Me, I feel right wing German with little hope for any religion. So as far as Obama Care it's just a fascist left wing ploy to get more people dependent on big government and the Unions help make this hospital bed they are trying to escape from. RAS |

Health reform plan for 'uninsurables' winds down By RICARDO ALONSO-ZALDIVAR, Associated Press WASHINGTON -- Citing financial concerns, the Obama administration has begun quietly winding down one of the earliest programs created by the president's health care overhaul, a plan that helps people with existing medical problems who can't get private insurance. In an afternoon teleconference with state counterparts, administration officials said Friday the Pre-Existing Condition Insurance Plan, or PCIP, will stop taking new applications.
