It seems that they often keep feeding the disease as seems to justify their existence and gives them reason to feel like they are important. Caregivers of the sick ppl mostly react the same way. Caregiving validates their existence. They complain and hope for a cure but shoot you down when you try to broaden their consciousness by suggesting that the disease could be cured with adding alternative approaches to the medical treatment. I felt like they were threatened by a cure. They could lose their purpose of being sacrificial victims to disease.
