Re: I just don't have the energy to deal with people anymore
I find myself more and more wanting to avoid having to go out into public. I find society has become incredible rude, impatient and self-serving. Nobody has manners or courtesy anymore. People talking loudly, talking on the cell phones,self-serving, me-first attitudes. I find that everytime I go somewhere I end up muterring to myself that I have less and less faith in the human race. I really feel myself becoming more and more introverted. People only care about themselves and being entertained No-one seems to care about the stuff that really matters - like the state of our economy, our constitutional rights being taken away from us, how the world is literally teetering on the brink of total collapse and anarchy. People would rather focus on sports and how LeBron James is the best basketball player in the NBA, or how Michael Jordan could still play at 50, or Real Housewives, Kim Kardashian, who wore what at the Grammy's or how Marco Rubio took a sip of water during an interview....no of that matters people! Wake Up!

does ANYONE feel like I do? Do you feel like you just want to drop out and not deal with people anymore?

yes i know exactly what you mean, thats a big part of the reason i am in the situation i am

most people are morons

i thought it was something wrong with me and that im crazy, but i guess it wasnt the case after all

BINGO.

It's a sort of instinct of self preservation, also.

We don't have energy to get HURT by people anymore. Our emotional structures are heavily damaged and fragilized.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 34487441

its not that i get hurt by people

its just i find people completely uninteresting, and they give me nothing

i know stuff they have no clue about, my reality is nothing like theirs.. talking about their little booring plans etc.. i know how their future will be like, and it will be nothing like it .. most of them will spend their older years slaving with an axe in the forest chopping firewood for a farmer, draining soil or picking strawberries until they drop dead, but i dont have the heart to tell them that ... if i tell them they should start saving in silver and those plans will never happen, they get angry at me and call me crazy anyway. And its not smart to suggest saving in silver etc to most people anyway, they will be desperate in the future.

yes, crazy.. havent i heard that one a zillion times now

so i shut up..
 Quoting: nerdwegian

LOL - I used to travel quite a bit a few years ago and I started to hate flying because inevitably as soon as the plane would touch down everyone on the plane would whip out their phones like it was the wild wild west and they were drawing their six shooters and get on the phone and tell some person they just landed and how their trip was and how Aunt Wanda just had her gall bladder removed and so and so were getting a divorce, et. And I would think to myself I don't give a fuck about your Aunt Wanda - why in the fuck are you subjecting me to this conversation? couldn't you just wait 10 more minutes until you got off the plane to have this conversation instead of making me a captive audience to your life that I could care less about? Arrgghhh. and then I ask myself why does this bother me so much? why do I feel so violated when this happens?

Yea. Most folks are down in a hole of degeneracy. I navigate the world like Neo in the Matrix. Occasionally I'll stop to fuck with some idiot's head.

It's why I sold everything in my life and bought a 55 foot sailboat. Now I live way off grid. When I get tired of the local fools I pull anchor and GTFO.

I've found that I prefer the third world shitholes the best. People are real there cause they have nothing but conversation. But they are still very simple. I spend my days lobster hunting or homeschooling my kids. Heading south pretty soon for hurricane season. Probably wont be coming back from this trip. Gonna stay gone this time I think.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 32716941

How much would it reasonably cost to do something like that? To buy a used (but in good shape) sailboat for one (or two), but big enough and equipped enough to be comfortable?

I already live on the coast (northwest). A small town, but with plenty of available slips I could rent, to store a sailboat, if I were to buy one.

Years ago, I would never have even CONSIDERED something like this. But now, being able to literally sail away is looking better and better by the day. Maybe head to the south Pacific.

I don't have any money, but I have a house that is close to paid off. If I were to sell, I would be able to buy a sailboat and have a goodly amount (I would think) left over.

it seems clear to me that there are 2 different kinds of people, the ones that feel violated and the ones being offensive. it would make sense that the former would make more of an effort to support each other and begin to communicate more effectively.

I sometimes think my parents left me all of a sudden to teach me a good lesson about life in general. Since the time they have left, this new world of spirituality has suddenly opened up for me, however, it has left me completely disconnected from my surroundings.

I am not sure what this exactly is and what it will end up being, however, it is painful, and seeing many of the GLPers going through the same, I feel this is going to be something beautiful.

Yes! Exactly.

This time is about detaching from society. You don't have to become a monk or a hermit, but this time is about avoiding people that drain our energy and can harm us spiritually. To do this is not a bad thing, but actually what we need to do right now.

We need to learn to be alone. Not lonely, but at ease being alone. This is a natural progression that needs to happen right now.

It is part of your ascension. Embrace it! This is what you need to be doing.

Detach society, family and friends. This is what is required right now.

Peace

Re: I just don't have the energy to deal with people anymore
If you find yourself getting angry or upset with some of the actions & behavior of people in your life, or with strangers you observe or interact with in public - try thinking about this next time:

How can you be certain that the behavior that you are witnessing is in fact a reflection of that individual's true nature? I'm talking deep down to the very core of their being. Is what you see a representation of their true nature, character, and potential? Or is what you observe a reflection of a person going through an experience in this challenging lifetime; a behavior or reaction that is instead representative of their CURRENT mental/emotional/situational circumstances? Has every behavior that you have exhibited to others in your lifetime always been a reflection of your true nature/character?

hmm

There is a sociological principle that speaks to an element of human nature that is important to have an awareness of:

Fundamental Attribution Error (Actor/Observer Bias)

In attribution theory, the fundamental attribution error (sometimes referred to as the actor-observer bias) is the tendency for people to over-emphasize dispositional , or personality-based, explanations for behaviors observed in others while under-emphasizing the role and power of situational influences on the same behavior. In other words, people tend to have a default assumption that what a person does is based more on what "kind" of person he is, rather than the social and environmental forces at work on that person. This default assumption leads to people sometimes making erroneous explanations for behavior. This general bias to over-emphasizing dispositional explanations for behavior at the expense of situational explanations is far less likely to occur when people evaluate their own behavior

(click on link for more info)
[link to www.aboutsociology.com]

Basically, when evaluating the behavior of others there is a tendency or inclination to attribute their behavior to their true nature/character while discounting the influences of situational/emotional circumstances that they may be experiencing in their life and that have contributed to the observed behavior. However, when we are evaluating our own perceived undesirable behavior, we are inclined not to attribute our actions to our true nature or character; we will instead perceive the different ways in which our experiences, circumstances, emotional/mental state may have contributed to how we behaved in that given moment.

It is a double standard that is ingrained within our perception that greatly impacts how we respond and react to what we observe in our environment. Having awareness of this bias that we often find ourselves engaging in subconsciously is the only way to enable ourselves to trascend this limitation of our perception and pave the way to a higher level of awareness & understanding of your environment and those whom you interact with.

The next time you find yourself getting upset or pissed off at a person's behavior or actions and feeling inclined to label them (their nature/character) all sorts of negative things - know that you have different options available to you with regards to how you choose to perceive the situation. There is a path to lower awareness and a path to higher awareness and it's for you to decide which path you want to take. One which leads to continuing tension and conflict within you, and one which leads to understanding, empathy, and eventually peace of mind within.

Just observe some of the ways in which people will characterize and speak about individuals they perceive to be 'different' than them. Often times I do feel much of a sense of understanding nor empathy in their choice of words.

What do you attribute these 'noxious behaviors' to? What do you perceive to be the cause? A person's true nature, or perhaps the influence of their environment & their experiences in this lifetime?

I have been in the travel industry for the last 32 years, in customer service. The change-over in civility, manners, and caring has been astonishing. Actually I started in Germany, which back then was pretty old-school, so the contrast is even starker.

Back then, ppl were truly courteous, caring, and tried to fit in. Now....ppl are unbelievably self-centered, litigious, and even cruel.

And the funny thing is, even older folks are doing this. You'd think they'd know better. But it's as if everybody has succumbed to this downward degeneration of society.

patience ha!

One of my pet peeves is people who are HABITUALLY later. We have family members where when we have a family event that starts at let's say 1:00pm, will show up at 3:30 - every freakin time. It is so rude. And they always act like its no big deal. they walk in and it's like - hey everybody we're here! It boils my shorts.

Hi:

Been there - done that!
From 1982 to 1987 I went sailing on my own 40 ft ketch - and at first I had no return date. I visited just about every single Caribbean island on the map and turned West only at Granada to spend almost a year in Venezuela and the ABC islands. Yes, it was a fine time and yes, I enjoyed myself, and yes, I was in my prime - but then came a time when I asked myself "What are you doing here? What are you good for? Is humanity better off because you are happily sailing one of the seven seas? I came to the conclusion that I was behaving rather selfishly. So, without looking back I traversed the Caribbean sea, then to Miami and back to Montreal.

Believe me, I learned a lot; but it is not as glamorous as it seems and a boat is like a small child - it needs constant surveillance and attention - and it can be expensive and occasionally dangerous to life and limbs. Besides, you never get you money back when you sell it - but when you eventually sell it, you will enjoy a new freedom. So, think about it - there may be better solutions - on land - with no strings attached (literally). Don't sell the house - rent it - because you might be tempted to move back in one day - as I did. But then I got divorced and that's another story. Good luck - you will need it!

Re: I just don't have the energy to deal with people anymore
I totally agree with you OP. Thankful I don't have to work and can stay home and take care of the house and play with our dogs. I hate going out more and more. Sets my nerves on edge! And where I live we have a high population of winter visitors. They are the worst. Had a lady cut in front of me at line the other day. And I just looked at her and said loudly Oh thats OK.

most of them will spend their older years slaving with an axe in the forest chopping firewood for a farmer, draining soil or picking strawberries until they drop dead

What's wrong with that? certainly sounds a better existance than working in a halogen factory with windows blacked out, producing endless stocks of artificial lights for a pittence as your lungs get choked with mercury.

Let her cut in line, everyones always in a hurry to go nowhere. Imagine a car comes crashing through the shop entrance and it would have been you walking through the door instead of her. Things happen for a reason, we just forget to remember this.

It helps to have a background in Aikedo. It's all about blending with the motion of the attack and redirecting the force rather than confronting someone head on. The works really well in the grocery store. For example someone cuts in front of you in line don't confront them. They are trying to get you to react. Don't do it.Take their negative energy and redirect it. Don't take it on. Pretty soon you will find parking spots and routes around crazies and accidents that will astound you. These negative experiences will stop happening. The first step is slowing down and getting centered. Next step is positive thoughts and awareness of surroundings. I can pick up on negative people so I chose the path of least resistance in the grocery store line up. Being still helps also. Make your movements spare and direct. Don't hesitate and hold your ground. If you have to deal with a crazy move around them. If they won't stop point to something on the ground and ask if they dropped it. That redirects the energy off of you and beck to them. I love Aikedo!
