I used to shop. then my wages were cut in half......guess what? I don't shop any more. All my money goes to gas and food ( which keeps rising in price Thanks Helicopter Benny)

Because consumer confidence is way down.

Also, because it's February. Their sales spiked in December, leveled off in January, and are taking a dip down in February. It happens every year.

But also because people don't have money. Remember when the media promoted "retail therapy," as if buying a new purse or bathmat would help you feel better? Now, all these people who thought they'd fix themselves with shopping have had their wages slashed or lost their jobs and are drowning in credit debt.

Welcome to America.

Should have saved your local economy instead of saving a few bucks at Wal-Mart.
