If I did not love my family surely I would charge for these services, much like the church with its tithing system.See, your understanding seems to be reliant on what you've been told, rather than what you "know". GOD and religion are not the same thing. Jesus came to save you from religion. Sorry to disagree, but if not for religion "God" would be in the same place as Zeus and Odin... The Mythology section of your local book store. Jesus didn't come to save me from religion. He came to unify Israel under it's rightful king, and Pilate just couldn't have that happen. If Jesus ascended to his throne Judea would have revolted against the Romans and Pilate would have not only lost control of the region, but also his life.
