Petition to impeach Obama on We The People government website and the official response to it.
[link to petitions.whitehouse.gov (secure)]

The petition itself which you can view at the link above reached a total of
49,890 signatures.

Even though a Federal Court has found President Obama guilty of violating the constitution their response states:

"The President has deep respect and appreciation for the Constitution -- he studied it in law school, he taught students about its principles as a professor, and as a lawmaker and now as President, he's carried out its precepts."

"So the short answer is that we won't be calling for the President's impeachment -- and given the fact that you made your appeal to the White House itself, we doubt you were holding your breath waiting for our support."
Interesting response and even more interesting that they are willing to respond to the public with such disrespectful overtones.

While they may have issued the statement prior to the court's decision, I'm sure they are well aware when the president violates the constitution.

Impeachment process:
Similar to the British system, Article One of the United States Constitution gives the House of Representatives the sole power of impeachment and the Senate the sole power to try impeachments. Unlike the British system, impeachment is only the first of two stages, and conviction requires a two thirds vote.

The impeachment process is a two-step procedure. The House of Representatives must first pass, by a simple majority of those present and voting, articles of impeachment, which constitute the formal allegation or allegations. Upon their passage, the defendant has been "impeached". Next, the Senate tries the accused. In the case of the impeachment of a president, the Chief Justice of the United States presides over the proceedings. For the impeachment of any other official, the Constitution is silent on who shall preside, suggesting that this role falls to the Senate's usual presiding officer. This may include the impeachment of the vice president, although legal theories suggest that allowing a defendant to be the judge in his own case would be a blatant conflict of interest. If the Vice President did not preside over an impeachment (of anyone besides the President), the duties would fall to the President pro tempore of the Senate.
To convict the accused, a two-thirds majority of the senators present is required. Conviction automatically removes the defendant from office. Following conviction, the Senate may vote to further punish the individual by barring him from holding future federal office, elected or appointed. Conviction by the Senate does not bar criminal prosecution. Even after an accused has left office, it is possible to impeach to disqualify the person from future office or from certain emoluments of his prior office (such as a pension). If there is no charge for which a two-thirds majority of the senators present vote "guilty", the defendant is acquitted and no punishment is imposed.

So basically once we've voted someone into office the only one with any power to change that are the House of Representatives and the Senate. Which might be a good thing. I can't see that the upheaval an impeachment would bring to our country would be a good thing. Not something to be done lightly.

What people can and should do is be proactive by voting. They should vote on candidates based on the issues that are important to them, and become thoroughly familiar with the candidates stance on the issues that are important to them. Also know your candidate. Learn about your candidates history before not after you vote for him.

As an American i just didn't like the way they phrased it.
"So the short answer is that we won't be calling for the President's impeachment -- and given the fact that you made your appeal to the White House itself, we doubt you were holding your breath waiting for our support."

Found it a little rude, condescending and arrogant?

Could be just me. Basically felt as if they were saying since you made your appeal to us you're stupid and ignorant of how to go about it properly and you surely didn't expect us to take any action.

I didn't sign the petition , still am not happy with the language used.

I read the petition and I thought it was poorly written and lacking pertinent facts. For example: The author never mentioned The secret kill list, drones over US cities or the NDAA.

wtf

Look at their responses to all the legalization petitions. The endless mockery.

Rather than answer the petition’s request that President Obama support the congressional legislation at hand, Kerlikowske only said “the Justice Department is reviewing the legalization initiatives passed in Colorado and Washington.” He then points concerned citizens to the president’s previous interview with ABC’s Barbara Walters in which Obama said he does not support legalization of marijuana. But, tellingly, that interview never addresses whether the president supports legislation to give states, and not the federal government, explicit authority to legalize it on their own within their own state borders.

There were many more issues that could have been brought up . Was not necessary though. The violation of the Constitution alone would be enough. in violating the Constitution he violates the presidential oath he took.

Thanks. Interesting link. I really don't think they actually intend to ever act on any of these petitions. I got the feeling that they use them more as a tool for feedback. Very misleading for those who start them and those who sign them.

"That's why the White House has created a host of new tools and channels to help concerned citizens hear from us, and more importantly, to help President Obama hear directly from you. And the fact you signed this petition means you've already found at least one of them."

Actually the Corporation serves to profit - it's members are under it's CEO which is Obama. Therefore they have to vote him out (impeach) of which only senior members of the Corporations board (house of Rep) (Senate) can do - and since the Corporation is profiting (off you) why should they? There are celebrations, parties, balls, galas, to attend ... because Corporate CEO's celebrate profits under their leadership.

Congress is the last cabal of corrupt swine....to investigate anything..........but....Nixon got hosed because he was in opposition to the power control group.

PROSECUTORS IN SOUTH DAKOTA HAD ALL THEY NEEDED TO INDICT CHENEY AND NSA AND BUSH.

DAVE NELSON, LARRY LONG, AND SD DOJ........did nothing.

Marty Jackley was SD US ATTY. He is now SD AG. He did nothing for civil liberties or privacy...despite all the felonies committed by GOP police state actors.
