Probably a tie between Lost and Battlestar Galactica for all time.

Monty Python's Flying Circus. It broke down so many taboos and barriers and trailblazed surrealism, the ridiculous and absurd in comedy.

Yeah!! I loved that one. China Beach, too.

Lost was meh... Battlestar was merely OK.

And I would rank Stargate SG-1 above both of them.

My all time favorite is Firefly (which was better than the movie Serenity based off it, they toned it down a lot for the movie)

Nah..not me..Stargate was\is an amazing show. Some of the episodic ones with standalone stories, in particular, were nearly as good as TV gets, but as a whole, BSG and LoSt told a greater tale with more complexity, and was overall more engaging.

SG-1 was a bit too 'explainy' -- a lot of times it felt like they were treating their viewers like complete retards..Using Carter constantly as nothing-more than a means to explain every piece of science on the show..without ever allowing any intelligence.

O'neil would frequently asked an incredibly stupid question that most viewers would already know...Carter would then spend precious time explaining it..

That became my biggest pet-peeve with the series.

I'll have to pick Stargate as a whole... I can't choose between them, and I guess that's more of a personal favorite than a 'best.'
Jericho would sit on top, if not for it's untimely demise.

that reminds me of "Dinosaurs" on TGIF in the early 90's. That was a good show.

Another SEVERELY underrated show is LEXX. -- By now means "Best" but has a unique, and rare-style if you can appreciate it.


And one that rarely gets mentioned much, but actually should, is Babylon 5. I intend to rewatch it soon.

You just opened pandora a box my friend. There are just too many to consider. That 70s Show really hit the nail on the head as far as what it's really like to be a teen in America. But in the same genre, The Wonder Years and Friday Night Lights were just brilliant. No show made me cry as a man like FNL and when I watch TWY now, I can only smile. As far as comedy, Seinfeld was great. Characters you would never want to be friends with but together were awesome. The X Files was great but only good towards the end. The Sopranos? Fagetaboutit. Great writing, great characters and great actors. The Simpsons need to be considered. What about South Park? Sure, a lot of fart jokes but there is always a message that reflects on us all. But the top of them all was LOST. It had everything. Love, humor, action, science, philosophy, Kate, time travel, the elite, the poor, the average countless GLP threads about it, debates that still rage about meanings and the ending. So in my 32 years on this earth I have to say LOST was the best, followed by Friday Night Lights. Wait, I didn't mention the Walking Dead. Since its still on and new episodes are coming out, I won't count that. So it's LOST. Wait, WINGS!!! Fuck. LOST, FNL and Wings.
