Good Samaritan Returns $1,200 in Cash and Gets Rude Reaction
By Melissa Knowles | Trending Now – Wed, Feb 13, 2013

You've heard the adages "No good deed goes unpunished" and "Never judge a book by its cover." There is perhaps no better recent example of both sayings being applicable than in what happened to 29-year-old Kyle Osborn.

Osborn owns an auto detailing shop in Harrisonville, Missouri. On Feb. 6 he found an envelope containing $1,200 in cash on the ground outside of the Sutherlands Hardware Store. Osborn went in search of the money's owner, walking around the store to see if he could find anyone who had lost something. He found a man who said he had lost the envelope of cash and gave the envelope to him. Osborn was surprised by what the man said: "I hope it's all there." Osborn said that "a simple 'thank you' would have been nice."

It's a rude reaction, however way to common. And these things make the kind people loose hope in humanity, and therefore they will act in the same way sooner or later.

The old man didn't suggest that the guy who found the envelope might have taken some of the money. He simply said out loud what we all would be thinking were we to temporarily lose track of an envelope containing a large amount of money. "I hope it is all there." Not a big deal. I can't believe that this is what passes for news these days. Did the guy who found the envelope return it because it was the right thing to do, or because he wanted everyone to notice what a great guy he is? I think the fact that he posted the incident on facebook answers that question

the response its probably more retarded than rude. if the guy wanted the cash then he would not be giving the envelope at all. so ofcourse its all there.

In reply Jesus said: “A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, when he was attacked by robbers. They stripped him of his clothes, beat him and went away, leaving him half dead. A priest happened to be going down the same road, and when he saw the man, he passed by on the other side. 32 So too, a Levite, when he came to the place and saw him, passed by on the other side. But a Samaritan, as he traveled, came where the man was; and when he saw him, he took pity on him. He went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. Then he put the man on his own donkey, brought him to an inn and took care of him. The next day he took out two denarii[c] and gave them to the innkeeper. ‘Look after him,’ he said, ‘and when I return, I will reimburse you for any extra expense you may have.’ Later however, the priest posted the incident on Facebook commenting, "That guy never even said thank you. What a jerk!" When the owner of the inn heard about the Facebook posting, he offered the priest a gift certificate for a free night.

Re: Good Samaritan Returns $1,200 in Cash and Gets Rude Reaction
why did the 'Samaritan' assume the comment was directed at him? Perhaps he was relieved he got the money back and the first thing that sprung to mind was hoping it was all there... I mean lets face it, he was in the store to buy a shovel and tarpaulin to give to the hit man along with the cash....he must have been under immense stress.

No that isn't what we'd all be thinking. I'd be thinking, "gee thanks pal, I really owe you one here," and those would be the first words to come out of my mouth. Then I would check to see if any of it was missing and still be happy if any of it was still there.

Only a greedy old fucking jew, or equivalent, would say something like that.

Charity is selfless to expect reward or thanks for a good dead is selfish.

To do a good deed to get praise or in better standings with god is also selfish so never expect reward just be a good person for the sake of being a good person.

My daughter in Kentucky left her billfold on top of her car after doing laundry with 3 children and it fell off at an intersection. She had just cashed her $800 check and hadn't paid rent yet. A good Samaritan saw it fall off, got out in traffic to get it and took it to the police station. I had told her to not panic to call the police station I saw it had been turned in. It was!!!

There are good people all over.

I had worse than that.

Some guy ran past me down the street. About 10 feet in front of me, a ten dollar note fell out of his pocket.

I shouted after him and picked up the note and held it aloft.

About 30 feet away, he finally glanced around at me shouting after him.

He then ran back, snatched the ten bucks out of my hand, shouted, "Stupid theiving fucker" in my face and then ran on.

Where i live, in Gatineau, the Police Dept is a sordid pit of corruption.

UNder sections 921 to 941 of the Quebec civil code, if you find something in the street and it is unclaimed after 60 days, it is yours.

I was walking along and I found an Iphone, fully working.

I handed it in to the Police Station, making it clear that I would like it if unclaimed. They said that that would obviously be "no hope" as they could easuily see the number on it.

61 Days later, I call the Police Dept. They called the owner who said that they had already bought a new one, didn't want the old one and could not be bothered to pick up the old one.

So, was I able to claim it? No. THe Police said that they would be keeping it and splitting the proceeds and I'd get ntohgin. They said that it was my fault for being stupid enough to give to to them as the law requires.
