"Even the "enlightened" have a residual suspicion that being free from emotions is somehow "unnatural" or "wrong". This is probably because they still view emotion within a false dichotomy of expression vs suppression – so any emotionless state is seen as suppression (or "repression") – and therefore "unhealthy". Only by rejecting this dichotomy can we perceive relative freedom from emotions as "good".

Another piece of conventional wisdom worth rejecting: that we need to be emotional in order to "feel" or "be sensitive to" nature, art, people, eroticism, relationships, etc – which is a falsehood on the same level as: that we need to be chronically distracted by trivia in order to feel pleasure (see The Distraction System >).

Although beyond the scope of this article, it's worth pondering why pioneering psychologist Wilhelm Reich used the term "emotional plague" to describe certain authoritarian, fascistic tendencies in "normal", "respectable" societies."

Emotions are the essence of life, you are meant to experience each and every one depending on what is happening. Avoiding even one or getting bogged down where you fail to be able to change them as the situation changes is where the problem begins.

Knowing yourself and being in full control of your own emotional self is a powerful thing, it's no wonder he was labeled "the most dangerous man in America" trying to educate people about their potentials apparently makes you satan these days.

There are a lot of emotions, starting from those that are unopleasant like hate and envy, and ending with a kind of emotion that make awareness expand, like sweet emotions when you feel love towards someone.

Emotions are what make us human. Just deal with it.

The truth of your post is self-evident in many of the replies, though I make that as an observation and not a judgement.

Emotions in check make for a harmonious society and can help one achieve peace of mind. To not want to achieve both of these is obvious insanity.

Breathing through the mouth 24/7 is the lowest form of consciousness. Emotions can be perceived as both negative and positive, as it defines our being.

The beginning of our awareness begins at the base of the spine and is the Alpha.

Existence: The Alpha energy, the Serpent

Sexuality: Division of the Alpha for conscious dissemination
Instinct: Basic animal mind, cause and effect
Emotion: Advanced understanding of cause and effect on us

Audible: Lower Spatial understanding
Visual: Higher Spatial understanding

Spiritual: Complete understanding


We often think by two fields combined.

-Looking at an attractive mate is visual + sexuality
-Music is Audible + Emotion
-Art is visual + emotion
-Fighting is Instinct + existence


When you discharge a mind, like orgasm in sexuality, the higher functions pause.

When raging in anger, we are discharging emotion, thus audible, visual and spiritual logic take a break for that moment.

This also agrees with the Kundalini.

Staying in a present state of mind will help to keep emotions calm.

BTW, love creates emotions, to feel compassionate towards something we love.

Of course this IS TRUE.

Obviously this is the reason our EMOTIONAL species is so screwed up.

OP is 100% correct. Why do you think the media's first objective is to get people to react emotionally to a story? Sandy Hook is a prime example- once people attach emotionally, critical thinking goes out the window. Many people are blinded by their emotions- which can be as easily triggered as pushing a button. And don't think The Thugs in Charge are not aware of this.

It is actually the suppression of emotions that presents most of the problems humans deal with today.
