this is clearly written by a left brain science minded person. just silliness. according to the author we would all be better off walking around as cold rational observers than feeling caring participants. Spock vs. chewbaccha . A healthy balance is always preferable in my opinion. Some of the great art works of the past century are highly emotional and come from a place of very high consciousness. i could go on but i think most people are in touch with themselves enough to know that this argument is ....well ... heartless.

It is actually the lack of awareness of what emotions really are that presents most of the problems humans deal with today.

emotions are often illogical and irrational because they have to do with conflicts with BELIEF system and REALITY. Your beliefs will stop you from challenging them, Fear and thoughts cannot work at the same time

so one always trumps the other

There is no way to be emotionally driven and it be a good thing unless you DO NOT BUY INTO anything that you have been sold. If you are the boss, your passion is drive. If you are not, your "emotions" hate the drive to work for the guy who doesn't have to be there unless he wants to be

Good point!! And an important point for those people who are bitching about WHY this thread is pinned...think about the whole gun control drama that is currently being played out.

If we attack that problem at it's source (humans not in control of their emotions) there would be no gun control issue at all.

i take that you use 'instinct'for the 3rd center and 'emotion' for the 4th, heart center.

it is interesting to note that what leary refers to is more to instinct than to emotion in your usage.

people who are centered in the 3rd instinctual center usually identify 'emotions' as what are in fact 'instincts'

or animal emotions (e.g. mother instinct, possesive love etc) , as opposed to human emotion proper (e.g. compassion)

one who manages to fully center in the 4th emotional center of the heart is in perfect harmony with the surroundings, is aware both of the lower levels and the higher ones, functions on the Schumann resonance etc.

so functioning on instinctual or emotional levels is an immense difference, which unfortunately is very hard to pin down in language due to conceptual confusion of the common way of speaking and lack of proper reference points to two kinds of 'feeling' states

He says its the lowest form, but if you think of it like how valence electrons fill shells, the first shell often gets forgotten about as more energetic electrons are gained, but it is the principle upon which other consciousness takes place?

So while emotion is the least energetic, its actually, according to and, to me, contradictorly proposed by Leary...the most important form of what makes human consciousnesses builds on.

Emotional people are THE most easily controlled.

It can also work the other way, if we suppressed the compassion we feel towards other people there would be no good good things happening around the world today.

I like to look at the positive things in life, instead of looking at the negatives.

Like I say emotions are that of duality, like everything else in human nature.

Emotions being the lowest form of consciousness, is just plain silly. There are very high consciousness people on Earth that express their emotions, through compassion, love, joy, etc

I'll opt for emotions any day over the emotionless zombie state!

Being emotional doesn't neccesarily means you're not in control.

Yes, as long as you are aware.

What you are aware of you are in control of; what you are not aware of is in control of you.

To be emotional does not mean that critical thinking goes out of the window. It is not truth. Emotions are fundamentally significant in social life and in ability to be emphatic to others. Human are not able to be emphatic to others without emotions. No emotions = sociopaths, serial killers etc...

Don't put words in the OP's mouth. He never mentioned anything about suppressing emotions.

Awareness and understanding how emotions all stem from fear and awareness how they create negativity and suffering from you and others is key.

This is not the same as suppressing emotions.

It's ok to feel just don't act on the feelings. Watch them dance in front of you. Then LOL. Also get your ego out of the way and emotions don't seem to pop up as much.

One way to get out of an emotional state is to center yourself and repeat this is not happening, this is not real and breath. Soon the emotion will go away.

Emotions stem from fear and lead to negativity.

Pure love for all around you, the earth and all its beings, is the only truth. When you feel connected to the earth and all around you, your actions and behavior will be in alignment with that, it is our essential truth. How could this possibly lead one to be a serial killer?

Very True! So to be emotionless is to be NOT aware and hence to be under the control of other forces! :)
