We are, we desire, we understand, we feel, we express, we analyze, we reach spirit.
In order to reach the highest mental awareness, one needs to find the complexity over 3d space.
Just as vision is far more complex then sound, so is spirit that much more complex then vision. Each step up is a refinement towards the other end of all creation.
Our spine base is the Alpha, our crowns are the Omega. Consciousness lies in between.

Not even 20 minutes ago, my daughters were engaging in conversation of opposites. The younger says the opposite of a tree is a branch. Eldest says no, the branch is part of it. I'm thinking in my head the opposite of a tree is a person. The eldest, 10, says the same a moment later. Seems she gets my tree of life tapestry quite nicely and will soon also it's sidenote 'warning: do not feed the zombies' =D
