The internet is HOT right NOW--HOTTER THAN EVER. Get it through your head. The feds are looking for a certain profile:

armed
racist
anti federal government

 Quoting: simultaneous_final

You just described the entire Obama regime.
 Quoting: Professor Xavier

Perhaps so. But remember that the feds play pretty hot and loose with the definitions of the above.

I'm just saying--

If a guy is posting about 30 rd mags, the feds think he's "heavily armed".

If the same guy calls a black criminal an ape in another thread, now the feds think he's a "heavily armed white supremecist".

If the same guy posts pro-states' rights comments in an anti-Obama thread, now the feds think he's a "heavily armed anti-government white supremecist".

That guy fits the profile for a "homegrown terrorist".

The feds can legally do whatever they want to him. Kill list. Drones. Indefinite detention. Anything.

I see what your saying, but....

I can't believe you are already admitting defeat. how can we win if we're already censoring ourselves. guns are not illegal where I live so I will not act like a criminal. hey government I have a springfield xd .40 and plan on buying a rifle soon. I also have hollowpoints and target rounds. When you outlaw these weapons you can come and take them. I have done nothing wrong, and do not plan on it. I am a law abiding ctizen. I will not register or turn these guns in.

Let me repeat:

Think about THIS:

You post something in a crime thread that could be misconstrued as "racist".

You post something in a firearm thread about using a certain dealer for 30 rd mags.

You post something in a government-criticism thread about states' rights and dissatisfaction with the federal government.

Guess what Uncle Sam sees--A HEAVILY-ARMED RACIST SUBVERSIVE WHO FITS THE "PROFILE".

Think about that!

They're looking for threats, plots maybe trends. But as far as firearm ownership goes. The millions with a ccw license are all on file. Anyone who has purchased a firearm legally is on file with the gun store. If you purchased ammo with a credit card your on file. So 95% of us are on file already....
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 28870983

It's not so much "about guns". It's about fitting a certain "profile". Just by posting or viewing this website, you already fit HALF of the profile. Throw in proud firearm ownership and you are a "perfect fit".
 Quoting: simultaneous_final

With all of these intrusions into our anonymity/privacy why don't we ALL JUST COME OUT OF THE CLOSET like some other people did. Let's organize a GUN SHOW at the MALL IN WASHINGTON D.C.. That way everyone can see how committed we are to the 2nd Amendment. If bus loads of "Open Carry" and CCW along with Gun Manufacturers, collectors, hunters, and gun enthusiast show up for the ULTIMATE GUN SHOW wouldn't that be grand. I'll have to see if the NRA would be able to help us organize.

Does that sound like a plan?

Re: Firearm Owner Discretion and Self-Censorship is More Important Now Than Ever
Let's face it--censorship is SHIT. However, SELF-censorship can and will SAVE YOUR ASS sometimes.

The way things are going with the US government trying to root out internet "extremists" (freedom-loving Americans), it's probably a good idea to practice some self-censorship when it comes to mentioning firearms, ammunition, accessories and magazines.

Look, we're ALL proud to support the 2nd Amendment. And most of us couldn't care less about what the federal government thinks of us. No one is a coward for keeping their armaments secret. Frankly, it's a good policy REGARDLESS of federal government threats to freedom. No one here has anything to prove.

It's getting to the point where the internet is shamelessly being monitored. And it's being monitored for everyday ordinary Americans who aren't satisfied with the federal government.

We're all on one "watch list" or another. But the feds are getting more aggressive. Think about your families.

One more thing:

BEWARE THE "LOUD AND PROUD" TYPES!!! Just remember how feds bust "domestic terrorists"! They fabricate the whole situation, provide the plans and the munitions and then they BUST THE POOR UNWITTING FUCKER WHO GOT WRAPPED UP IN THE GOVERNMENT-MADE PLOT.

In other words, beware of the people who say keeping quiet about your armament is an act of cowardess. Either they are morans or they are out to get you.

And if you think GLP isn't being HEAVILY MONITORED, you are WAY OFF.

Just my 2 cents.

I don't reveal the specifics of my armament. I'm covered. This thread is a recommendation to those who are not so discrete.

I never said expressing yourself is a "crime". I made it clear in the OP that everyone here is on the same page when it comes to the 2nd Amendment.

The point of this thread is to point out that the federal government is cracking down on internet "extremism" defined by a certain profile which is:

1. armed (particularly with "assault weapons")
2. "racist"
3. anti federal government

These are all common topics here. This site is monitored heavily. If your posts meet the profile above, then YOU and YOUR FAMILY are being monitored heavily by people with an interest (financial and otherwise) in making their monitoring worthwhile.

So in other words, forget about your first and second Amendment rights, forget about your fourth and fifth Amendment rights. Hell why don't we just forget about all our rights and live in fear the government just like this was fucking Russia. We should fear no man, and be subservient to none. If that gets me put on another list so be it. This is no time to hide under your bed. Whos side are you on op? The anti gun weenies are going ape shit with their verbal assault on our rights.

I think it is too late..we are all on their lists already.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 27768994

Being on a list is one thing. Anyone could be on a list. Anyone could keep a list. Don't get depressed about this, it's nothing you can control, and it's really nothing to worry about.

It's still a bit inconvenient or illegal for them to go arrest someone or kidnap them, just because they have previously decided to put that person on a list. A jury won't convict someone because they were on a list.

Giving evidence that makes you a real crime suspect is quite another. And that's what you can control.

Silence on our part shows a sign of content and weakness. Being weak will get us steamrolled, or worse. Pro 2nd amendment, firearms talk should be encouraged. Just keep talk of violence and anti government talk out of it.

In another thread you mention firearms.

Now you fit the profile.

Look. I made this thread as a common sense recommendation that can benefit all who heed it as well as the site in general. You seem to be missing the point. I don't make racist posts.

Get it?

Oh I see your point but you are missing the point that there are many that DO NOT CARE what the feds think or say. The feds are NOT the law of the land. You give them power by thinking they are.
 Quoting: 422

No, I definitely get your point. I am one of the people you mentioned. I don't care what the feds think or say. But the feds do not CARE about the law. They have shown this time and time again with too many examples to even mention.

From importing hard drugs to unconstitutional executive orders to kill lists, the federal government does whatever they want with impunity because they are the biggest game in town.

They got to be the "biggest game in town" because the people did nothing to stop it. Instead they looked the other way and went about their business as usual.

Please say what anyone could have done to stop it. Exactly when? Many people always wanted to prevent this situation, there are many freedom lovers, some quite clever and competent.

But the Feds play to win, and in some ways they are winning. Only in some ways. Even the government itself has pockets of resistance. Obama was forced to issue EO's about the gun issue, because he wasn't getting the legislation. Congress did its job well. The EOs are much weaker and have much less credibility.

It's as simple as exposing the corruption where it is seen. Many people see corruption and decide to remain ignorant or just brush it off. Many others are very naive and gullible and believe what they are told. There are also many that work for the corruption because they receive a nice paycheck. Many are scared to ever speak up.

OP, I can see ur point on this, but I think our fates were sealed when we initially came to sites like GLP. Everything we've done online has probably been "heavily tracked" since the days of dialup bulletin boards.

Op we will never know what cards the opponent is dealt if it's a bluff or not. Same goes for us. I can claim to have an arsenal up my ass as a bluff which might cause the enemy to waste valuable resources time and money or even fold. You have to think about all the cards in play and the cards not in play. Of course people are entitled to their own opinion but asking people to play the same way isn't going to win. We need loud & obnoxious. Peaceful yet opinionated. People calling bluffs and people to fold and wait till the right time to put their cards into play. Being loud and obnoxious about it can be an unexpected surprise that has to be dealt with that they were not prepared for. Not everyone in the government agrees on what's going on with gun control and are probably waiting for the right time to reveal their cards but we still need the loud and obnoxious guys to slow the process so everyone else can prepare to go all in.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 22491741

I can see your point. I would just caution the loud and proud types to watch how they post in threads that have nothing to do with firearms. I would caution them to stay away from anything that heavily criticizes Obama or anything that could be misconstrued as even slightly "racist".

I know it seems extreme but the feds actually build profiles of what "domestic terrorists" are supposed to be like. They key words are:

armed
right-wing and
racist

And you KNOW the feds like to bend the definitions of those words.
 Quoting: simultaneous_final

You can add a few more to that list:

Christians
Constitutionalists
Tax protesters
Home schoolers
Members of the sovereign individual movement
Those who promote seceding from the union
Those who speak about admiralty law
Those who are anti-vaccine
Any "-ist" or "-phobe" not in line with the current agenda
Anyone who uses a term like "banksters"
Those who are critical of surveillance technologies
Those critical of the TSA and police checkpoints
Those opposed to the UN or New World Order

And the list goes on...

I can remember when the feds' terrorist profile even included people who had recently purchased a Farmers Almanac.

exercising your first amendment rights are just as important as exercising your right to bear arm. censoring yourself is the same as turning in your guns at a buy back.

Silence = Permission
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 32876041

I'm not talking about censoring yourself outright. I'm talking about using discretion when talking about "what kind", "how many" and "where you got them". It's common sense that's tragically uncommon around here.

But right now, DHS is specifically trolling for:

armed
racist
anti federal government

But you're right. It's harder for anyone to NOT appear on some list than it is to get on one.
