I have met many who are very psychotic but wear nice business suits and are not homeless

but have what this world deems as

'respectable careers'

Believe me

I have met many psychotics make a lot of money in high careers

not all psychotics are homeless

Re: Scoop the Nuts: NYC Rounds Up the Mentally Ill
I find your posts ironic because you have no idea what I do ...

In fact, let's leave it at that. However, I can tell you that your little stereotype is COMPLETE bullshit.

They make up the BULK of the homeless population? Want to share some evidence to back that up or are you going to keep spewing nonsense and pretending to sound like you know what you're talking about? Let me guess...you KNOW because you were homeless (but also psychotic).

Just because you had a crazy breakdown doesn't mean you have any further insight to this. It just means you had psychotic break (which I'm guessing a nice little psychiatrist told you, yes? then put you on hmmmm lemme guess...risperidone? haliperidol? olanzapine?)

READ the article:

"In the past, the city Department of Health would ask cops for help finding mentally ill people who aren’t taking their court-mandated meds so they could be taken to clinics. But that only applied to those who had known addresses — and patients who went off the grid were rarely pursued...Cops in the NYPD’s Real Time Crime Center are using high-tech methods to first track down the individuals, and detectives on the street have been assigned to then go after them"...

So YES this IS New and Odd.

We're talking about a high-tech round-up of people the "authorities" have deemed "mentally ill" and "dangerous".

If you can't see the slippery slope, hun, then forget it. I'm not going to argue the obvious with you.

Let me stop here before I continue a rant about the quackery that IS the field of psychiatry...

wow you know what? you are extremely rude. I find your attitude in this post disgustingly rude.
um excuse me on your judgement of my condition and what you suppose I did and had diagnosed and was medicated? The answer is no to all of your assumptions on it. but really that is none of your business. And seriously, you are way too rude to even be replying to. your attitude is disgusting and welcome to my ignore list.

so by reading this thread you you guys just don't have any idea what psychotic mental illness is all about eh.
I was homeless for 5 months because of psychosis.
I should have been in hospital and so should many homeless people.

The people they are targeting are genuinely dangerous.. because they are absolutely crazy.. have you ever had contact with someone that crazy? they are literally dangerous and need to be hospitalised. For their safety and for everyone else's.

this warrant they talk about is in many countries. It's not new and it's not odd - it's for people who are in a dangerous state and who should be being medicated and kept out of public until they are better but who just run off and go fuck it. They cause genuine fucking trouble, these people. becuase they are as insane as it gets... unless you have seen it or been it don't just go OMG they want to take away our liberty blar de blar it's for no reason!!!!.. um no.. it's for a very good reason.
 Quoting: Requiem

Are you certain they all are located in NYC?

what about other big cities like Washington DC and shitcongo?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 32538141

sorry but i don't understand how your comments relate to my post. There are psychotic homeless people everywhere, in every city, in every homeless population. They form the bulk of homeless people, really; people in various types of mental illnesses, who have no family or no family who cares enough to make sure they are looked after. That is one area which just falls through every crack a society has. Perhaps the northern European countries have learned how to deal with it, I would guess that if any countries have, they would have, but still I wouldn't expect it.

right

I have a hive of them living in the rental beside me and they scare me shitless.

Right now theyare driving across my drive, and across the sidewalk to enter the highway; creating an ice patch on the public sidewalk in front of my house, and the driveway, before I can shovel the soft snow away and salt the area. If anyone slips and falls on it I will be sued, so I have to do something about it. I cannot just ignore it.

So, i have to try to think of ways of what you would do with a wild animal to discourage it away from any troublesome area it is creating. It is a weird and scary life, but I have dealt with such, as a farmer and in my work-life as a HHA. I thought I could retire, but I guess not.

So what.... We all know the hospitals don't want them anyway. They will look them over and turn them right back out. It's a revolving door system and has been since Reagan shut down all the "nut" houses in the 80's. It's just a dog and pony show to make the sheeples think "something" is being done.

Did no one else spot these false-flag 'type' (I'll say it that way) events when they were HYPED by the press? Did you not find it ODD? Back to back subway attacks being shown all over the press? Anytime something is emblazoned across the media (Sandy Hook-guns, Dorner-drones) prepare for a follow up action. They set this up nicely, don't you think? WAKE UP!

As an impartial observer I will say that Requiem's assertion that the majority of homeless are clinically insane is probably a little off. But I also don't think that rounding up 25 folks who are presumably VERY sick equals a slippery slope to tyranny.

I know exactly where your coming from though I am extremely skeptical of the pseudo-science they call "psychiatry".

But there are some homeless out there that are extremely dangerous. They harm innocent people and slip in and out of society so I assume "high tech" methods are required to find these disturbed people in such a highly populated city.

I would say it's a slippery slope in both directions that just needs a little common sense applied to it.

So tell me this: where do we draw the line on rounding up potentially "dangerous" folk? How do we standardize such a term? Who has the authority to standardize what constitutes a potential threat?
Do we start a Minority Report type society?

Totally know what your getting at. You start classifying people as "potentially dangerous" and "disturbed" next thing you know we're getting rounded up for stockpiling ammo, believing in individualism, not believing in "fairness" and "spreading the wealth around."

etc etc.

I just don't want to get my faced chewed off by some poo flinger on the subway ranting about the microchip in his brain when this person should have been institutionalized a long time ago LOL.

Re: Scoop the Nuts: NYC Rounds Up the Mentally Ill
According to the NY Post, NYC has begun a "roundup" of the mentally ill homeless who hang around subway stations.

The city has already drawn up a list of 25 targets

This comes after a pair of high-profile subway-shove fatalities from December.

“After the Queens subway attack [of immigrant Sunando Sen], the [city] decided to take a proactive approach to track down the most dangerous mental-health patients that currently have mental-hygiene warrants” out for them, a law-enforcement source said.
(wtf)

Cops in the NYPD’s Real Time Crime Center are using high-tech methods to first track down the individuals, and detectives on the street have been assigned to then go after them and take them to hospitals, law-enforcement sources said.

Re: Scoop the Nuts: NYC Rounds Up the Mentally Ill
this is more complicated than that. I have a sibling who manages ok on meds(can feed herself, pay the bills, do all the regualar stuff) but unfortunately goes off them reguarly. She can't take care of herself off meds because the paranoia sets in she scares everyone and she ends up evicted. So she is mentally ill and receives disability and can see a state assigned psychiatrist but when she goes off the meds and won't see the doc there is not a damn thing anyone can do. I am pretty sure she is about to be homeless this time because the state can't lock her up in a mental hospital unless she hurts someone.

so now do you know why there are so many crazy homeless people?

So if you go crazy and manage to get disability you better take the pills remember that. It is better than being homeless and then picked up by the Bloomberg mental hygiene squad. What happens then?

In a perfect world, with good intentions and rainbows and shit... this is a good idea.

But.. yeah.. this aint no perfect world by any stretch, and America is on a tightrope right now balancing 2 rabid rottweilers.. and a poodle on heat just ran by...

In this society that just loves to classify each human into some hole, we already have rectangles being forced into triangle holes. the loose terminology in the statement presented in the OP is beyond scary, as is my point.. there will be no "line", they will go for that extra mile and if you cannot see that.. then i have a bridge to sell you.

Seriously.. Metal "health" is a joke, psychology is a dark art of guesswork and chemical manipulation. it wasn't that long ago they were still doing nasty things to try and figure out "how that works" .. not that long ago..

Don't get me started on "body language" and other dangerous fads that have been adopted by certain "professionals" even if they don't admit they use it to diagnose.. they'll talk your ear of about how they know someones lying because they looked to the left or scratched their nose..

There really isn't any good in much of it, this "law" will make it worse, and if it spreads (as these thing like to do once proved effective and easy) we're ALL in serious shit.

Thought i'd come back and add to my previous "raggghhhhhh!!" with some clarity (caffine is awesome!)

Seems that Mr. Hitler himself was funded by the Juice. In fact, the same Juice and their Banks currently fucking up America.

Ha! Remember 'the pills' or 'injections' as the case may be VERY OFTEN make you worse. Akathisia - very common side effect - can exacerbate psychotic symptoms, make you suicidal, violent or even homicidal. It brings on severe restlessness and a type of internal torture. That's not to mention the continual brain atrophy and organ damage caused. Granted, it is also dangerous to go cold turkey off your meds too - and ideally, you should have a carer that oversees your day to day condition, and takes action to help prevent a relapse.

However, in this case, my concern is what happens to the 'homeless' in the psych ward. It is very expensive to keep people in hospital. My guess is that the doctors would be instructed to keep them on such high doses of drugs, they would suffer horrificly, then die (be killed) within a few months or less. Folks, this has happened previously.
