scientists who have sampled the sheen on several occasions “have consistently found the presence of alpha olefiens, which is a chemical bond signature of a man-made chemical you would not find in pure crude form.”

Its not from a fault, it's from the sunk oil rig

Re: NBC: New fault on seafloor may have opened up from BP disaster in Gulf
BP drilled through the salt deposit and undermined it's integrity. The salt deposit is also being undermined by ground water, and an aquifer. The aquifer, punctured during drilling near the Napoleanville Salt Dome, is washing out the salt formation, and a collapse is inevitable. All of our strategic petroleum reserves are stored in this salt deposit. Once one of theses domes collapses, a chain reaction will begin, releasing all the gas and oil, and setting off the new madrid fault. There is no way to stop this.

This will not come as a shocker to those of us who have been following the BP fiasco. Matt Simons (RIP) had been saying it from the beginning.

NBC: New fault on seafloor may have opened up from BP disaster in Gulf, says oceanographer — “Potential for an indefinite release of oil”?

"New" fault my ass. There are at least 14 major transform faults cutting across the GOM from when it opened up.

This is so sad for many reasons. The ecosystem in the gulf. The shrimping and all other fishing industries there. So very very sad just because of greed.

This angers me and saddens me.

Re: NBC: New fault on seafloor may have opened up from BP disaster in Gulf
It doesn't take a rocket scientitst OR a Geophysicist to understand:

>pump oil from under ocean floor to surface
>break thingy that holds and transports oil
>spray chemical over oil sitting on top of water to sink the oil to the bottom of the ocean floor so people don't see all that yuck stuff
>oil sits on ocean floor where it was once UNDER the floor=space under floor where oil was becomes cavernous
>weight from oil on ocean floor disrupts tectonic plates underneath=fucking with any fault line (including San Madrid) connected to it.

As a matter of fact, the concept seems so simple to understand that this scenario seems intentionally constructed for an agenda.

Doh...but that would be a moranic, brianless conspiracy theory

Re: NBC: New fault on seafloor may have opened up from BP disaster in Gulf
I understand that some Geologists have described a large crustal area in the Gulf of Mexico to be highly sensitive, thin as an eggshell, and could possibly be fractured by drilling.

Tampering with this egg-shell like formation in the Gulf is like playing Russian Roulette.

The Psychopaths in search of profits from energy don't give a rip about what "might" happen, they are like crack whores that just want more profits from oil.

To understand these Deviants, you MUST study the Psychopath.

Sociopath = Socialized Psychopath

The Strategic Behavior of the Sociopath...

1. Assessment phaseSome psychopaths are opportunistic, aggressive predators who will take advantage of almost anyone they meet, while others are more patient, waiting for the perfect, innocent victim to cross their path. In each case, the psychopath is constantly sizing up the potential usefulness of an individual as a source of money, power, sex, or influence. Some psychopaths enjoy a challenge while others prey on people who are vulnerable. During the assessment phase, the psychopath is able to determine a potential victim’s weak points and will use those weak points to seduce.

2. Manipulation phaseOnce the psychopath has identified a victim, the manipulation phase begins. During the manipulation phase, a psychopath may create a persona or mask, specifically designed to ‘work’ for his or her target. A psychopath will lie to gain the trust of their victim. Psychopaths' lack of empathy and guilt allows them to lie with impunity; they do not see the value of telling the truth unless it will help get them what they want.

As interaction with the victim proceeds, the psychopath carefully assesses the victim's persona. The victim's persona gives the psychopath a picture of the traits and characteristics valued in the victim. The victim's persona may also reveal, to an astute observer, insecurities or weaknesses the victim wishes to minimize or hide from view. As an ardent student of human behavior, the psychopath will then gently test the inner strengths and needs that are part of the victim's private self and eventually build a personal relationship with the victim.

The persona of the psychopath - the “personality” the victim is bonding with - does not really exist. It is built on lies, carefully woven together to entrap the victim. It is a mask, one of many, custom-made by the psychopath to fit the victim's particular psychological needs and expectations. The victimization is predatory in nature; it often leads to severe financial, physical or emotional harm for the individual. Healthy, real relationships are built on mutual respect and trust; they are based on sharing honest thoughts and feelings. The victim's mistaken belief that the psychopathic bond has any of these characteristics is the reason it is so successful.

3. Abandonment phase

So, is this release of vast amounts of oil causing the sinkhole situation in Louisiana. Is the oil flowing from deep under ground in the sinkhole area and traveling underground into the fault at the bed of the Gulf? Is that causing the ground to collapse in Louisiana. If so, it will never be brought under control.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 26165384

SPOT ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Other ways around.

DWH and the fracturing of the sea bed, with up to seven gushers down there, was the beginning.

platforms

This shows the some 28,000 drill holes, reserves, rigs, test points, etc, mostly concentrated off Louisiana.

salt layers

This shows just one cross section of the geological layout of the area from land down to deep water.

Oil is found in 99% of cases in a particular strata, surrounded by salt (domes/pillows/veins) and an aquifer.

When they drilled the Macondo area, they not only drilled into an area with 100 times the pressure they expected, they were miles down, under water, doing everything remotely.

The salt dome was breeched, and a tar volcano near by added to the situation.

We watched just ONE of the gushers being capped.

Follow the salt layers up on to land, and late last year we see methane bubbles at Bayou Corne, eventually leading to oil leaking, and part of the Napoleon dome collapsing. Its a huge dome, miles across, and miles deep, and the sink hole there is minute in relation. But every ice berg has a tiny tip.

noaa class

This shows just one small section of the Napoleon dome.

The oil that purcolated to the surface, amongst other things, had the same finger print as the oil from DWH disaster back in 2010.

'Experts' - from BP, stated that the clean up of the beaches had much of the washed up oil taken to.... the Napoleon dome for later separation, stored in a large reserve cavern they had there.

Of all the places...

Not buying it for one second. It may have taken over two years, but the massive pressures at DWH, the breech of the Macondo dome structure, tidal action, and general weakening of the strata off Louisiana, has allowed oil from a few hundred miles out to percolate up via the salt layers on to land.

Liquids, be they water, oil(s), magmas will eventually wear the strata away.

My bet is that Edgar Cayce and Gordon Michael Scallion's predictions of a water way between the Great Lakes and the GoM is fast becomming a reality. We're seeing the start of it.

The US Navy already have maps depicting it. (Navy future map)

While I'm not a geologist, it doesn't take being one, to see what is going on in the Gulf of Mexico. Do a little reading on the subject yourself, don't take my word for it. The data is there, and any logically thinking person, will come to the same conclusion. This is a dangerous, and irreversible problem. It will affect us all, in a profound way. It's just a matter of time.

6And the seven angels which had the seven trumpets prepared themselves to sound.

7The first angel sounded, and there followed hail and fire mingled with blood, and they were cast upon the earth: and the third part of trees was burnt up, and all green grass was burnt up.

8And the second angel sounded, and as it were a great mountain burning with fire was cast into the sea: and the third part of the sea became blood; 9And the third part of the creatures which were in the sea, and had life, died; and the third part of the ships were destroyed.
