Just as I suspected. Salt domes connect at the very bottom.

so once the salt erodes these will just leave big open gaping holes underneath the dirt?

then all the groundwater & oil & natural gas rushes to fill these holes, causing the sinkhole to fall in as well. it seems like an incredibly dangerous situation

Thread: NBC: New fault on seafloor may have opened up from BP disaster in Gulf, says oceanographe

so you saw the other person's exact same thread and decided to make another one?

Uhhh, negative. This isn't my first rodeo pal. I always check first. That said, I posted because the information is very important, then had to run out the door to work. Thank you very much for the pin, and I'm looking forward to diving back into this topic, which has been close to my heart since it began in April 2010. May God watch over all of us, especially those of us living along the Gulf Coast.

I couldn't agree with you more, Dr. Lecter. What sent chills down my spine was the fact that NBC reported on it at all. When the BP fiasco was a huge topic in summer of 2010, there was practically a media blackout by the main stream media... so my question is... Why are they reporting on it now? Hmmm, something stinks in suburbia. Any thoughts?

As a coastal Louianian I don't believe it ever stopped.

Ask yourself why they reveal the presence of a drilling platform at the DWH site in this article? We've known about it for months down here....they defend it similar to the supertanker loop south of Grand Isle....HEAVY.

I was sent to the hospital many months after we given the all clear for respiratory problems due to exposure to Oil/Corexit. Its a long story, but I saw FRESH OIL that day, reddish tinted, and moving in a line with the tide.

The other fishermen were calling it a "red tide"....I knew better. They claimed it was stirred up by the tropical storm the week prior. It took them 2 weeks to admit it and close the area.

I don't trust them and neither do the others down here.....they started something they can't stop, they knew it early on....

Why have offshore surveying ships been patrolling the area nonstop, why is that industry booming? Why can't anyone in the survey companies talk about anything they are doing?

Matthew Simmons knew what happened, he was killed for telling us.

It ain't over....it never stopped...except in the mind of America.

As a matter of fact, I believe that something much bigger went on in the Gulf then we have been told about. I find it ironic how the locals were banned from helping with the clean-up and how the gulf was virtually evacuated. How quickly this massive oil slick disappeared, and how nicely it lines up with the New Madrid fault. I am also wondering about the recent mass deaths of birds in the area, and the installation of what is apparently three H.A.R.P.P microwave towers there.

I think they found something... or perhaps were trying to do something with something that no one knows anything about.

never knew this Simmons guy.. but I have heard a lot of names related to dead whistleblowers.

From the wiki page:

Simmons was found dead on August 8, 2010, in his hot tub.[17] An autopsy by the state medical examiner’s office the next day concluded that he died from accidental drowning with heart disease as a contributing factor.[18] Many conspiracy theorists believe Simmons was killed for his views on the "cover up" concerning both B.P.s' and the U.S.A's deception about the Gulf oil spill, claiming it had never really been cleaned up nor the leak ever stopped.

very sad and it just keeps getting worse. it's true, this was never really fixed. all lies.

just like they "fixed" the economy. it's all a dog & pony show and I hope it all comes crashing down sooner than later

Amen, AC! Matt did know! And it has never stopped for a second, it has only created bigger problems. I am convinced the methane seeping up through the ground in LA is related and the sink hole in Assumption Parrish, as well. Thank you so much to all of you who have shared such great information today!

well isn't that convenient for the liberal anti-drilling anti-fracking crowd that is destroying the economy and for me personally, causing me to pay $500 for 125 gallons of oil that lasts me barely 3 weeks. Go to hell.

Then we have the ever expanding Halliburton dock at Fourchon with enough ship traffic out of Belle Pass to make it look like a Mardi Gras parade...funny they almost all head southeast.

...and then there is our lovely Wackenhut Security.....yep they never left....

The only thing that left was THE MEDIA....

I could go on and on....I will spare you the whining.

You won't be driving your rig anywhere, if that fault line lets loose, pal. Your supply lines will be completely cut off, due to the New Madrid Seismic Zone. Do yourself a favor and google it. While you're at it, try the US Navy Map and the gas pipeline map. But hey, nothing to see here, carry on...

This is so sad for many reasons. The ecosystem in the gulf. The shrimping and all other fishing industries there. So very very sad just because of greed.

This angers me and saddens me.

OP, you may be interested in following this tomorrow. I am.

[link to www.fox44.com]

BATON ROUGE, LA (FOX44) — The head of the state Senate's Natural Resources Committee is planning a pair of meetings about the Bayou Corne sinkhole.

Senator Gerald Long tells FOX44 News he'll host one meeting in Baton Rouge, and another in Assumption Parish. The first will be a Senate hearing on February 19 at the State Capitol, because that's the best date for members of the Natural Resources Committee.

Long has not yet set a date for the Assumption Parish meeting. He said Governor Jindal is invited, but he doesn't think he will attend. END.

Interesting that Jindal may not attend.

Hope Senator Long is a good guy.

Re: NBC: New fault on seafloor may have opened up from BP disaster in Gulf
The pressure in the Maconda well was increased by the introduction on Synthia bacteria. This bacteria eats the hydrocarbons, and partially refines the crude oil. This builds pressure, fracturing the salt dome and sea floor above the petroleum deposit. This pressure is what caused the well to explode. The release of the pressure has caused the sea floor to begin buckling down. This is undermining the salt deposit as well. The additional loss of the gulf stream has increased the temperature of the waters in the gulf. This has caused the methane, currently in the form of ice, to begin melting. This along with the increase in the temperature of our entire solar system, including the core of Earth. This has caused an pressure to be placed on the crust, as the magma volume increases. This also releases gases, and is what is responsible for the earth booms, and sinkholes in other places. All the oil, and water we have pumped from the ground has had the effect of a vacuum. The aquifers and oil deposits are drawing in methane, and other gases. This can be set off by the collapse of the salt dome and explosion of the gases stored within. The new madrid goes after this, and all hell breaks loose. They know this is going to happen, and there is no way to stop it. That is why they have completely ignored it. This is the real doom. It's a ticking nuke, waiting to go off, and devastate half of the country. Prepare people. It's just a matter of time.

Why did they (BP) drill so close to a salt dome? It looks like they drilled just to the side of it. I've always wondered this.

Do you have a link for a diagram of this?
