Absolutely correct! the people are not the problem,it is the control freaks that are the problem,Politicians, Bankers and their minions,they cause most of the problems.

Thanks for the kind words everyone. The government I think hasn't made any big statements for now. The only thing that happened related to them is that some people from the cabinet resigned, one of which is the financial minister who right now is in the USA. He got out of here in the beginning of the protests. /he worked for the World Bank before being a financial minister/

The big medias here are being maximum silent and if out on the streets are protesting 10 000 people, later they say there were no more than 2-3 thousand. Lying and extenuating to make the peoples morale low.

You know. Bulgaria isn't a big country, some of the cities are quite small and everyone knows each other /also the policemen/, so some of them are not hiding that the government are telling them to beat people so to be scared to go out and protest. People are trying to be maximum polite to the police and make them understand us and our demands, because they also have to pay large bills and receive low wages. Everyone knows that the only 'fence' between people and the government is the police so by doing their best avoiding clashes between them they are making the task of bringing down the government and corporate companies down quite easier.

Today there's a protest again and I'll try to inform you on what is going on, because they aren't saying anything on the mass media. On Sunday is the nationwide protest.

I think they hope the demonstrations will fizzle out over time, like the Occupy Wall Street protests did in the U.S.A. only after several months.

Finland was independent only for a short while. Then they sold us out to EU.

Believe it or not here live many Christians and Muslims, there are many Turks, Armenians, Macedonians, Gypsies and other small groups. Despite the problems with the gypsies everyone is being friendly and peaceful. I have many friends who are not Bulgarian, neither Christians and we get along very good. People are kind and helping each other. The media and the political parties are creating the tensions between people.

Why would the sign in the second pic be written in English?

If you're protesting to the Bulgarian government... Shouldn't the sign be in Bulgarian?

I think it's because they are afraid of it spreading.

Sad to hear of the calls for nationalization. Bulgaria just recently freed themselves from Soviet control and now they are the verge of simply handing it back to them.

No idea why it is in English. There are people with non bulgarian nationalities who live here from long time and they also protest.

7 days. I Guess it's a warning. Doubtful your wants will be granted. May get violent, I reckon.

As I told earlier people gave the government 7 days to get rid of the power companies. Politics from the cabinet tried to calm the protesters by telling them that the power companies will reduce the bills but people refused to stop protesting.

There will be 7 days /actually 5 days more, until Sunday/ during which the protests will be peaceful and afterwards.. I don't really know.. As reading in internet everyone says that will go violent and storm government buildings. Time will show. Thank god there's internet, because the media is lying about everything. :-)
