They are the healthiest people I've ever known in my life. They're a pain in the ass on the roads, and hypocritical as hell, but they're healthy. It's down to three things: 1. They eat only organic, natural food 2. They spend most of their time outdoors, especially as children 3. They live stress-free lives |

THEY REFUSE TO VACCINATE THEIR CHILDREN , exposing themselves to disease. They drink raw cow's milk, exposing themselves to salmonella. They even - and this is really disturbing - favor natural food, exposing themselves to tomatoes that contain cracks. Given these eccentric practices, isn't it inevitable that their communities become breeding grounds for allergies and asthma? Not according to Dr. Mark Holbreich, an allergist who has been treating Amish families in Indiana for over 20 years. Holbreich was inspired to investigate the allergy rates among Amish children when he began researching the so-called 'farm effect' (the notion that children raised on farms demonstrate lower allergy and asthma rates than their urban counterparts) in central Europe. Keen to investigate whether the farm effect also manifested itself in the United States, Holbreich assembled a team of German researchers to compare farming and non-farming children in Switzerland with Amish children of Swiss descent in Indiana. Many of them use pre-dominantly modern medicine, send their kids to public school, and add modern processed foods to their diet. But for those who vaccinate, that's definitely bad for their health. What sucks is that when I moved to the States I had no choice but to receive tons of new vaccinations. Fascists. |

Yes, but now I'm jealous of your kids. You know, this is probably worth adding: 4. They typically have strong communities and happy families. It's not universal, but there's more social spirit and family spirit in Amish communities than in many other communities. And since their communities are closed off, the Amish grow up in a reasonably healthy and nurturing environment. |
katballoo User ID: 1852316 Canada 02/18/2013 09:40 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Raw cow's milk is the absolute best for the immune system. The woman who created the movie "Farmageddon", said her son had very bad allergies, and she never knew why. She tried so many things conventional things, and nothing worked. She read about raw milk from grass fed cows, so she gave it a try, and discovered that her son didn't have allergies anymore, once he started drinking raw milk. He is now 18 and allergy-free. I am not surprised to know that the Amish are a very healthy lot. All the clean eating that they do, and not being filled with all the chemical filled vaccinations and prescription, and non-prescription drugs...they are far healthier then most of us. |

We're a sterile society when sterilization does not mean we are immune, it in fact weakens our immunity. Exposure strengthens our immune systems. Last Edited by Booster Gold on 02/18/2013 08:58 PM [link to www.youtube.com] both of these and more a little inbreeding doesn't hurt either (close to the line breeding, if you've bred animals you know what I'm talking about). Either destroys your line or isolates the best traits and builds on them pretty quickly but most of us will not have the options of going the way of our Amish brothers. That's a form of the "lucky sperm" club oh well..a few lessons we can learn, such as avoiding ultra-sterilization of everything children touched, but we can't replicate the lifestyle short of moving to a dairy farm in Pennsylvania |
