Sinkhole swallows shop in Queensland Australia
Qld sinkhole could swallow more buildings

AUTHORITIES fear more buildings could topple into a sinkhole that has swallowed a two-storey building in the flood-ravaged Queensland city of Bundaberg.
Mayor Mal Forman says about 10 businesses, including a multi-level hotel, are at risk along the Burnett River.

Another deluge has further destabilised the banks of the river after the recent floods caused by ex-cyclone Oswald.

Queensland's great flood for the first quarter of 2013 may have already went past, but the effects of the recent floods caused by ex-cyclone Oswald apparently are still not. On early Tuesday morning, a two-storey building that housed a marine supplies business caved in a "sinkhole" in flood-ravaged Bundaberg where authorities fear could further swallow at least 10 more other business establishments along its way.

A sinkhole which damaged an on-ramp to Interstate 15 in San Diego on February 24 continues to grow February 25. The hole was caused by a drainage pipe which burst due to heavy rains attributed to El Nino weather patterns and is approximately eight hundred feet long, 40 ft wide, and 70 feet deep.
"I came into work early, went down and took some photographs and it was already dropped into the water, but it was held up by a farm gate onto the front of the roller door for safety," Jan Douglas, owner of Midtown Marina, said of the cave-in that happened at 7:30am (AEST).

Two people had to be rescued from the roof of their car overnight on Queensland's Gold Coast after yesterday's downpour sparked flash flooding.

Workers camping in the hinterland rescued the pair from a flooded causeway after they tried to cross at Guanaba around 9:00pm (AEST) last night.

Both climbed onto their car roofs.

Cars caught in flash flooding overnight.

MOTORISTS have been caught up in flash flooding in the Gold Coast hinterland as Queensland's southeast endures another deluge.

Heavy rainfall that began on Monday is expected to continue throughout Tuesday, and the weather bureau is also warning of gale force winds and dangerous surf conditions.

+1

I live in Brisbane and its another wet summer as usual filled with heavy rain, up to 125km/h winds and potential tornadoes which 'could not be tracked'. Though, Bundaberg really copped it this time around.
