The Bible is a bigger authority than you will ever be.

It's a medieval tool to control the masses, and has no place in modern times, as the use of Logic has surpassed the use of Faith. For something that has no place in modern times it sure stands tall. The use of logic should tell someone to give up a fight they can't win. The Bible itself is testimony to the existence of God. It is the best selling book for over a thousand years. No other book comes close. Many people have at least one bible in there home. Bibles are found in many hotels/motels. Bibles are the most common book given as a gift. The Bible is quoted more than any other book by both believers and even non believers alike. Again, logic should tell someone to give up a fight they can't win. Faith stands strong even in these days and times. What purpose does the Bible actually serve? At best, it should teach love and goodwill to others, and give spirituality to a persons life. But think about it, you don't need a religious doctrine to learn how to love (to most it comes naturally), and you don't need to be a Christian to be spiritual. But what else does it teach? Fear. You are told that if you do not follow its ways you will get the worst punishment imaginable (Hell). This also teaches you to look down upon those who chose not to follow your religion. It is blackmail, and exploitation of the weak-minded. This sense of self-righteousness that is instilled undermines logic, as people believe quoting the bible overrides a logical argument. If anything, the Bible is an assertive tool.
