Anyone ever been fined for running a school bus stop sign?
As I was entering my park today (which is right off the highway) the bus was picking up all the kids. They all meet at the main office which is the entrance. As I'm coming in the park I'm off about 20 feet from the bus and children. There isn't anywhere to stop unless I stop in the highway/park entrance whic would just be an accident waiting to happen. I would assume the she puts out the stop sign from those exiting the park?

Anyway hopefully she didn't my plate because I would be pissed if I got a ticket/points for something stupid. Havn't had any driving violations in about 10 years. Help me out GLP....

I didn't come to a complete stop,
Now, you look at the cops and they fine you.

I was passing a bus as it was slowing down at an intersection.
I assumed the driver was turning left because the stop sign wasn't out so I kept going.

All of a sudden the driver starts wildly blowing his horn and the stop sign came out. I was still beside the bus but past the sign so I just went ahead.

Pissed me off so I just started blowing my horn back.

I've had a few other experiences with these school bus drivers which lead me to believe you don't really have to know how to drive to be hired for the job.

My son was almost in a head-on collision with one that was going the wrong way on an exit ramp.

Yeah there are probably lots of folks driving buses that probably shouldn't be.

I'm worried I'm gonna have to pay out the ass for this.

don't know HTF they do it but i have had two speeding and one red light and they ALL have been dismissed and one of the speeding tickets the trooper showed up and she still got it thrown out.

No, but my blood boils when I'm taking the kids to school and the crossing guard stops traffic all four ways to walk a fucking adult across the street!

Delaware. I would gladly pay $100 to not get a ticket. I have never had a stop sign violation so not sure if it gets turned into insurance or not.

I just sit there because I know there's a cop around the corner and I'd end up in jail if I plowed through the intersection...I bring up bullshit like this every year at orientation, I let the whole school know how retarded they are...

If you see a school bus slow down, just assume it is going to stop.

In NC I watched some mexican fuckstick pass a bus and cream a 5 year old. He didn't stop but a guy two cars behind me had enough time to pull out on him and we blocked him in. Needless to say he had no license, was 3 sheets to the wind and ......wait for it ......an "undocumented resident".

Kid survived with a broken leg.

Re: Anyone ever been fined for running a school bus stop sign?
I know better than to mess with school buses here!

All 4 or 6 lanes of traffic have to come to a complete stop even if there is a wide median separating all the lanes and the kids of course are going to exit and walk on the side where the bus is.

But if you are all the way across the median and 2 or 3 lanes away and don't stop, the fine is absolutely huge. I think $500. And do it again and they can suspend your license.
One of the most important aspects of conspiracy theories is being able to discern when there isn't one.

Oh yeah, like you'd understand anyway.

Where are we going and why am I in this handbasket?. . .J. Handy

In my situation you can't see the bus until your a few feet from turning into the park, right off the highway. It's either stop on the highway or keep going. The bus is atleast 20 feet away and the kids get on from the opposite side I'm heading. Hard to explain really. I just hope she didn't get my plate number or that the bus doesn't have any special cameras.

Re: Anyone ever been fined for running a school bus stop sign?
I have been a school bus driver for almost 26 years. I try my best to give motorist time to stop for my lights. It's hard to do when I'm required to make a stop on both the first and second sides of an intersection and I'm tying up traffic on a busy street.
I rarely can get a license number of someone running my lights, as the violator is speeding past me. I'm concentrating on the safety of the students entering or exiting the bus.
When in my personal vehicle I hate waiting on a school bus, but know the driver is doing what they must safely and legally do.
If you see a bus driver making a stop that puts motorists in danger of being hit, contact the school district. All bus stops are approved by the school board and they should consider moving it.
Hopefully our first concern is the lives of the precious children riding the school bus!
