Well, I don't agree with all of what you have written obviously.
Women took responsibility for their second class status (as it was perceived) and worked to change that on a societal level. Yes I am sure the tptb had a hand in it. But the women's movement would not have sustained itself, if women were being treated really well all along.
Men are only now starting to feel like they are not first class citizens....which is how women have felt always. And men don't like it right? But instead of organizing themselves and trying to change society, they are watching destructive porn, hating on women and then sometimes exploding with anger by beating/raping/killing.
Obviously, not all men are like this. But enough are to make the news everyday. And enough are that I notice the women bashing threads every day.

Regarding the state of society now, in general, yes both men and women need to work to change things. We can do this by having insight into ourselves, and work on changing ourselves. We can cultivate more loving kindness and compassion. We can transform anger by being vulnerable and sharing our true feelings. In this way, those emotions get released and transformed.
