gutsgk22 User ID: 5129712 United States 02/19/2013 04:11 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I live one block from where this happened. Woke up to the sound of multiple helicopters and sirens 5:30am. Got dressed for work left house to see cops on my block everywhere pulled out to head to the freeway and the on ramp street (village way) was blocked and taped off. Drove up to the crime scene as there was no other place to turn around. This happened on the edge of Tustin/Santa Ana...I'll tell you this I've lived in this location for one year and this is the third shooting within that year I've seen within two blocks of my residence. This area is mostly latino and asian and has a very real gang problem. Most people don't think Orange County has these kind of areas but I've lived here my entire life and I assure you we most definitely have many many sketchy parts of orange county...with mostly latino, asian gangs and then a good amount of skinhead white power prison style gangs. This area is not a great part of town, not as bad as some, but by no means is it a safe area. Which is why I'm looking to move...within one year three shootings, multiple burglaries,I've personally had my truck shot, and tagged with graffiti, commonly see drug deals and have gotten used to dodging used condoms in the street near the freeway where I have to park since there are so many cars from multiple families living in single family units. I had to comment on this thread after laughing at a lot of the posts...just a coincidence this happened here...but this area in particular is shitty as is most of Santa Ana. Shootings are common in this part of Santa Ana mostly gang drug related. Anyways...glad I left for work later than normal this morning...could of been me car jacked... |

Busy posting in comment sections about how this just goes to show we need gun control. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 34759090 :this1: If you look at any article in the local media - latimes.com or ktla.com or pick any of them....a good portion of the comments out the gate go straight to bs like "thank the NRA for nuts like this" and gun control this an that. It is NOT anything actual people here would be hopping on the comment sections to write. it's very orchestrated and they are posted as soon as the article is posted. |

MarkinAZ User ID: 20006444 United States 02/19/2013 04:28 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | The areas in Tustin and Santa Ana, near the 55 freeway and Edinger Road and McFadden Dr are in my old neighborhood. I lived a matter of eight or ten blocks from there. It's a nice area going into Villa Park/Orange cities. To see these familiar landmarks and my old neighborhood portrayed as the scene for this crazy murdering innocent people, carjacking people and executing them before taking their cars... what a horror. In the meantime according to KTLA the police in Downtown LA think they have found a dead body (possibly a missing tourist from Vancouver) stuffed in a water tank on the roof of a rather seedy hotel in downtown LA. She's been missing for a few weeks - so one can only guess at the condition of the remains - I'd rather not think about it. Seems like part of LA is going mad today. Not a large part, but the lone gunman has killed at least four and possibly six people since his murderous rampage started at about 4:40 AM this morning. Sad beyond belief. The people in the area must be terrified. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 25676821 United States 02/19/2013 04:31 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Here is the plan: Notice CO is now considering stricter gun laws, since SO MANY incidents of gun shootings/killings in their state in the past few month/years - Columbine, Aurora, etc. I read this on the news, and thought to myself, "Now watch EVERY STATE - one by one - BEGIN TO HAVE LOTS OF RANDOM SHOOTINGS TO JUSTIFY STRICTER GUN LAWS AND CONFISCATIONS...." I guess I was right. Next up: California. I predict NY will follow close behind. |

Gigolo Jesus User ID: 16359707 United States 02/19/2013 04:50 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Remember when looking up your stats that this attacker most likely originated from where he started, not ended. A little farther south in the Mission Viejo/ Ladera Ranch area. If that is the case, we might have a Singh/Syed shooter. Today at least 4...Where are the names of all the victims and who was the shooter? for truth Agree - Santa Ana is a bit scarey to me but Tustin is gorgeous!! |

I don't know about Pat Tillman - I'll look it up in a bit. Radio news guy was escorted off the base when he was trying to find out about the story - he called my dad and had my dad visit the base - of course nothing ever came of it. I have heard there are other stories of impossible suicides in the military and lots of families just like ours wanting nothing more than the truth. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 984953 United States 02/19/2013 05:06 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | A few things I saw on KTLA when this was breaking was that there were many different law agencies blocking all the crime scenes like the Irvine Police, Tustin Police, Santa Ana Police, Orange Police, Hwy Patrol, OC Sherrif and the FBI. Many plain unmarked cruisers and a couple weird plain white pick up trucks with Police lights in the back window. It all looked like they were doing a drill of some sort of orchestrated event. |
