Desert storm
Haiti
Bosnia

Ok, here is the scenario:

A few months into tshtf, and the un-prepped folks have left for the FEMA camps and only "Us'ins" are left.

"Us`ins & Themmonds" ;-)

The folks in the re-education camps will become indoctrinated/fat/well trained and uniformed. Given a since of purpose as a U.S. DHS Officer.




*Folks You need to prepare for the following:

1. short Term shtf scenario

2. Mid-term shtf scenario

3. Long-Term shtf scenario, one that might last 20-30 years.


I am Prepared...........are you?

You have most likely weeks/months to complete all preps. Do not leave out long term sustainment prep's.

Rabbits/Tilopia/seeds/50,000 rounds/etc...etc...

OP don't be insulting. there's no need for that attitude that simply turns people off prepping. I don't care if you've done 50 tours and are the second coming of christ, don't hurt our movement with your angst. As if serving in the military gives you the right to troll with impunity.

To Americans; prepare. Cheaply. Rice, Vitamins, Guns, Ammo, Water purification equipment, Etc. The time is approaching. Don't let this OP's arrogance turn you off from doing what is neccessary to survive.

Hmmm, hubby thinks I won't be able to handle a 12 ga shotgun. I told him, you never know what your adrenaline will do in a situation. All we can do is practice until I get used to the kickback that he's concerned about.

I went online and priced the shotguns ... won't be able to afford one any time soon ... but the birdshot is priced fine. Will see if I can find someone local who is willing to sell cheaply or in exchange for something.

I've been trying to prep for the last several months (I'm late to the game, but trying to catch up). However, I'm working on a frayed shoestring budget and against a husband who isn't convinced things are as bad as we here at GLP know it to be.

I've mentioned this in another thread yesterday ...

I lack:

stored water
gun/ammo
herbs, seeds, etc
camping supplies
wool/harsh weather clothing

My foods is mostly canned and some MREs.

I'm trying hard to squirrel away money as it comes in towards the supplies.

You could buy some heirloom veggies and save the seeds. Hybrids will do in a pinch and as emergency back up, but the seed from each successive planting will differ as the seeds revert.

Search the Internet on seed saving to learn more.

I see a lot of talk about "seeds" and gardens,thus usually meaning vegetable seeds.
Are any of those seeds, "cotton" seeds? What is the long tern plan for clothing?
Do you know how to make yarn, weave, etc, to make things from raw cotton?
How many are stocking, Gourd seeds, to make containers, dippers and such, in a long term SHTF situation?

How about grains for livestock?

Just wondering as I seldom see these types of "seeds" being discussed.

Excellent idea. Our produce store sells heirlooms from south america and I have been using alot of those.

When I made my green drinks before my garden came it, I notice my compost pile from the juicer material, were sprouting tomatoes so I am actually growing 40 of those tomato plants

Sweet! Ferment ripened tomato seeds in their own juice for 2-3 days, wash them off, lay them out to dry and store them in a cool place.

How do I know veggies in a store's produce is heirloom?

I have no place to grow (am I'm allergic to dirt - asthma - so I can't have anything indoors - live in a 800 sq ft home).

Hubby says burpee seeks are non-gmo ... true? Good enough to buy and save in vacuum sealed baggies?

Give us some insight, state the obvious (because that is often overlooked even by the hardcore preppers) and some extra on top of that. I'm sure lots round here have military training or at least woken up in terms of prepping of some sort, but only few have actual experience, so I would value you sharing yours with us here. What's a good place to hide? Better to keep moving or hiding? Stay with family or in small groups only or run with the pack? What's a good way to keep a low profile? What people are trustworthy? What are red flags in terms of ones own security? What orders from the government should be obeyed and wich ones rather not?

i know your directing your question to the OP and his experiences but i feel i must also add. in Somalia 1993 i saw a country WROL . a very dangerous place. but those community's that stuck together in a village had a family sense about them. I never saw a village fall to the rouge raiders. even without law as we know it. the basic human law takes over and there can be good in that. so don't get all cranked up with fear. get to know people around you. they will depend on you and you might even depend on them.

Thanks for the input. Pretty much, their is safty in numbers, I saw this in Desert storm, Haiti and Bosnia, and as you state in Somalia. People react pretty much the same throughout the World.

Don't ask me why I've done this, because I don't have babies or toddlers.

I just know someday a mother will need these items.

I have been saving my dish towels and hand towels when they become thin. I have also collected hundreds of Wal-Mart bags and rolls of duct tape. To this collection I have added baby wipes, ointment, lotions, desitin, etc. It's packed in those big metal tins with lids.

One day there won't be any pampers or diapers. What will the mommies do about this? They will do without. Or they will create diapers from old towels, plastic bags, and duct tape.

If you think I'm trolling or off topic, I won't mind if you ban me.
