Re: Prepper's & WROL folks, "Something to think about"
Don't ask me why I've done this, because I don't have babies or toddlers.

I just know someday a mother will need these items.

I have been saving my dish towels and hand towels when they become thin. I have also collected hundreds of Wal-Mart bags and rolls of duct tape. To this collection I have added baby wipes, ointment, lotions, desitin, etc. It's packed in those big metal tins with lids.

One day there won't be any pampers or diapers. What will the mommies do about this? They will do without. Or they will create diapers from old towels, plastic bags, and duct tape.

If you think I'm trolling or off topic, I won't mind if you ban me.

I posted what I thought was important.

Only Serious Prepper & WROL folks need reply, loser's who want to post crap, "Post will Removed & Poster will be Banned"
 Quoting: biscuits and gravy

it seems we may be the last two serious preppers left here. i also am prepared and a veteran. hell i just posted a thread also with very little interest on an importand subject ( in my opinion)

Thread: ethanol gas to power back up generators ( Disscution) PREPPERS

yes i'm prepared to help my family and as important my community in such an emergency.
 Quoting: boilerbengal

Buddy, I have been prepping for at least 40 years. Gone through thousands of dollars revamping and updating. I am set to go. I tell everyone here every chance I get to get ready. At my place I say nothing to anybody. When tshtf I have everything I need and will hunker down and stay out of the limelight.

I even have the plywood cut and marked which window it covers...screws halfway in! All under wraps and no one the wiser.

So do not complain that more do not respond to the threads...some of us just like to stay under the radar.

When they finally wake up it will be to late for them. They had every opportunity and now they can live with their choices.anon

Sometimes preppers need to hear those kind of remarks. It should be in your head when they approach as hostile-thieves that you need to destroy them at once and give no chance to them at all. Don't talk them to death or try to reason with them...do what needs to be done at once.

Re: Prepper's & WROL folks, "Something to think about"
I've been trying to prep for the last several months (I'm late to the game, but trying to catch up). However, I'm working on a frayed shoestring budget and against a husband who isn't convinced things are as bad as we here at GLP know it to be.

I've mentioned this in another thread yesterday ...

I lack:

stored water
gun/ammo
herbs, seeds, etc
camping supplies
wool/harsh weather clothing

My foods is mostly canned and some MREs.

I'm trying hard to squirrel away money as it comes in towards the supplies.

Also, remember that your water-heater has 40-60 gal of drinkable water inside it. So if your unable to build up storage, you'll at least have that...until it runs out.

I have 6 Combat Tours

I have been the Army of Occupation in:

Desert storm
Haiti
Bosnia

"My experience forces me to realize certain scenarios"

Ok, here is the scenario:

A few months into tshtf, and the un-prepped folks have left for the FEMA camps and only "Us'ins" are left.

"Us`ins & Themmonds" ;-)

The folks in the re-education camps will become indoctrinated/fat/well trained and uniformed. Given a since of purpose as a U.S. DHS Officer.

*Folks You need to prepare for the following:

1. short Term shtf scenario

2. Mid-term shtf scenario

3. Long-Term shtf scenario, one that might last 20-30 years.

I am Prepared...........are you?

You have most likely weeks/months to complete all preps. Do not leave out long term sustainment prep's.

Rabbits/Tilopia/seeds/50,000 rounds/etc...etc...

I have a question.

After prepping sufficiently,
and SHTF,

when 'they' come, and you've successfully
fended them off, and there are bodies
lying around,

what is the best immediate course of action
at that point?

And you've prepped sufficiently? Meaning you don't want to eat them.

Start digging. Unless you have dogs or pigs to feed.

stored water
Cheap Pool from Wal-Mart 1,500 gallons
gun/ammo
Used 12 ga from Gun Shop & Birdshot are all you'll need
herbs, seeds, etc
Wal-Mart seeds will work but you need some for each year, non-heirloom
camping supplies
"Bug In" your current dwelling
wool/harsh weather clothing

I hope this helps ;-)
 Quoting: biscuits and gravy

I am new to this site and to prepping, and hopefully I am not too late. May I ask what you mean above by "Bug In" your current dwelling??

Thank you in advance -

Re: Prepper's & WROL folks, "Something to think about"
Good thread. thumbs

Most difficult transition for most, I think, will be growing your own food. Lots of preppers have stored food, water, fuel, ammo, etc. I also have heirloom seeds, but I’m no farmer. I don’t even have any farming tools outside of tiny garden stuff like a rake, a hoe, and a shovel. I think my next prepping purchase is going to be a basic tiller. What is going to be toughest for people like me is being a first time farmer. To think, my great grandparents were dairy farmers and I used to get to help milk the cows and feed the chickens on Saturdays when I was a little kid. We have so much to re-learn.
"God forbid we should ever be 20 years without such a rebellion. The people cannot be all, & always, well informed... If they remain quiet under such misconceptions it is a lethargy, the forerunner of death to the public liberty... Let them take arms... What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots & tyrants. " - Thomas Jefferson in 1787

Re: Prepper's & WROL folks, "Something to think about"
Well if you have been in Bosnia you sure have some experience to share? Give us some insight, state the obvious (because that is often overlooked even by the hardcore preppers) and some extra on top of that. I'm sure lots round here have military training or at least woken up in terms of prepping of some sort, but only few have actual experience, so I would value you sharing yours with us here. What's a good place to hide? Better to keep moving or hiding? Stay with family or in small groups only or run with the pack? What's a good way to keep a low profile? What people are trustworthy? What are red flags in terms of ones own security? What orders from the government should be obeyed and wich ones rather not?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 34770263

Howdy,

In Bosnia, there where many, many cliques, not only family, religious or prior military, but also alliances formed out of necessity within neighborhoods.

Most Men were killed so Women & Grand Parents became the Guardians. Neighborhoods had grave yards at the end of streets and the kids would get marched to school by and elderly woman, and they would always be quite and look at the graves when passing by, knowing that was one of their relatives.

Most folks "Bugged In Place". Barter was the economy for years. Those on farms grew veggies and raise live stock for consumption and barter.

Brcko and Sarjevo where a Bitch with fucking snipers. You kill one and two more pop up. Stay out of the Bigger cities if possible

*Fresh road construction Marking on the road, "Post Apoctolipic" during shtf time = Buried Land Mine. My Eyes were blood red from percussion blast syndrome for 8 weeks

Everybody was cautious of the "New Guy".

When America SHTF, the rest of the World will follow. Prepare now. ;-)

 Quoting: biscuits and gravy

..one more thing to consider....usa have no bosnian or horvat.....rare neighborhood got 2 people that grew old together on same street.usa have folks of all roads and ways that glued together by dollar.
THINGS WILL GET NASTY IN USA IF SHTF...
Make sure that you can keep super low profile while things settle down.....have enough of everything to buy time for mental adjustment to new reality w/o exposing your self.....
My reality:
Having 3 children placing me in disadvantage.
Having 3 children making me doubling my efforts in prepping.

Sold my business in n CA and moved to sc
Few acre land with developed garden, some goats, some chickens.
Have my own mini range.
Wife knows how to use p226 and how to reload ak.....children know
How potato, tomato, egs, milk and chicken meat come to table.
I understand im no superman to overcome everything that comes our way.....but Im trying to UP percentage chance of our survival as much as possible.
I witnessed the collapse of ussr....and trust me even in a centralized EVERYTHING country....with constant readiness of its government for war.....things can go from ok to super bad ...overnight.

PS. I suspect few waves of ''hungry zombies'' from mobile home park few miles down the road....after they realize walmart is actually empty.
