====----____The Nootropics Thread!____-----====
This is the thread where we discuss Nootropics!

I feel that Nootropics definitely are effective, and will eventually be scheduled in the United States...Because the U.S. Government, via the FDA does not want more intelligent people whose brains function quicker and more effectively by using substances which have no threshold overdose level, and are relatively inexpensive...can't have that now, can we?

I have experimented with multiple -racetam type nootropics, from Piracetam to Oxiracetam to Noopept. Even though Noopept is billed as 100x stronger than the "original" aka Piracetam, I have found that Piracetam gives the best effects!

I always mega-dose Piracetam (min. dose 4g, max dose 12g) and I always take Choline with the Piracetam....usually the equivalent dose.

This is a major point I can find no solid information on- the optimum dose of Choline to Piracetam. Some say to take 1/5 the Choline of Piracetam, others say take 1/2, still other say to take the same dose, and others state 2x the Choline of Piracetam.

If you have no idea what I am talking about, do yourself a favor, and research Nootropics! Nootropics are also known as Smart Drugs. Here are a couple FAQ pages regarding Nootropics to get you started:
[link to www.whatarenootropics.com]
[link to www.erowid.org]

Remember the movie, Limitless? Where there was a little pill that allowed the ingester to have turbocharged brain power? Well, nootropics can be just like that, except not to such a fantasy-level.

Side-note: Amazon.com has recently (within the past month) stopped offering Piracetam bulk powder and any form of Piracetam on their website. I find that interesting...not in a good way. Even more peculiar, other -racetam type Nootropics are still being sold on amazon.com, so I do not know what that means.

Please discuss your experience using Nootropics!

one last note for now: I am especially interested to hear about non-American use and opinions of Nootropics. When I first discovered their existence more than 12 years ago, I recall reading that they had been in popular use in Europe for years, and were just then (year 2000-2001) becoming known in the United States.

go!

Alpha Brain, according to Joe, is very good. Haven't tried it yet.

Good sleep, exercise and an every-other-day dose of 240mg Ginkgo.

Marijuana is good about once a week in a light dose.

I have not tried Alpha Brain, and I am definitely not shilling for Joe Rogan.

I have checked out the product after hearing him pump it on his podcasts.

However, I much prefer to purchase the bulk powder myself, and purchase empty 0 size capsules and use a Cap-M-Quik machine to fill the capsules with the Nootropic powder.....this saves soooo much money this way! It also allows you to create your own mixes. It can be time consuming, so I can see how some people would rather just purchase the name-brand pills.

Thank you for adding that link! I have read so much interesting stuff regarding Nootropics on the longecity site! Yes much of it is anecdotal....but at this point, using Nootropics is very new, and if you are brave enough, you sort of have to be your own guinea pig.....of course with extensive research and safety precautions.

edit: Isozy, as for ordering Noopept, Russian made, I have read before that nearly all -racetam type Nootropics are created in either Russian or Chinese labs. I personally purchase my Nootropics in bulk powder form from a company called "Hard Rhino" which is based in U.S.

I actually just called their customer support and spoke with a man who did candidly admit their Piracetam is produced in China. I am not concerned though, the quality has always been superb. He did also confirm that all the -racetams on the market are produced in China.

As for Noopept vs Piracetam...Noopept is claimed to be much more powerful. The benefit is taking a much smaller dose! However, I have noticed better results and effects from taking a comparable dose of Piracetam.

Either way, I say: GO! for it!

O.K., if you are on the #1 Conspiracy site on the internet you should also be interested in Nootropics! (is there a ranking somewhere? Top 5? Top 10?) I would also argue that this forum rivals that of Bodybuilding.com and shroomery.org for depth and breadth of posts and subjects.

Seriously, think about it: If there was a pill that had absolutely zero side effects, was relatively inexpensive, and would allow your mind to just 'click' faster would you take it? I find Piracetam and Choline stacks really improve my sociability. I have never exactly been shy, but I am not a Type A/Car Salesman type. But with Piracetam I feel thoughts and words just flow and I find myself often captivating audiences- whether it is a one-on-one convo, or I am on stage.

omega fatty acids are also very useful, hemp oil has about as perfect a mix that you can get.

of course, you can't just start pounding nootropes and various vitamins and automatically expect results, you also have to cleanse your system of toxins and keep them out. that part is the tricky one.

How long have yo been taking this? What is your experience so far OP?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 18681750

I have not taken Piracetam+Choline stack faithfully for longer than a 2-3 month period. It is solely due to funds. I could afford it, but I just have not seemed to continue faithfully taking the Nootropic stack.

I first ingested this Nootropic stack roughly 12 years ago. It has been for the past two years or so, that I take Piracetam and Choline daily, usually 2-3 doses each day, for two month spans.

I expect to receive a shipment of 500g (1.1 pounds) of bulk Piracetam powder today via USPS, so I will have to spend a couple hours filling the empty capsules I also ordered.

I have found the following effects from using Piracetam*:

+Colors seem brighter (in a minor way, not in the same way as psychedelic...just brighter and more vivid.)

+Sounds seem more clear and interesting (music of course, but also mundane sounds have a more interesting quality to them)

+In fact, a great way to describe it would be that sensory input is "cleaner." Everything just has a more dynamic quality to it, but not in a dramatic fashion. Perhaps a good way to describe this effect would be the difference between watching a video on youtube at 480p, and then changing it to 720p.

+Social interactions are markedly improved. This is the greatest benefit and this is the reason why I love Piracetam. I find I can voice my thoughts in a clear and rapid manner, using more descriptive words, using more interesting language, and eliminating use of "um"s and "uh"s. By far, the greatest effect of Piracetam for me. Never does it make me feel speedy or out of control or weird, but always makes me feel at ease when socializing and interacting. I have never had social anxiety, but there are manifold anecdotal experiences online of incredible benefits from Nootropic use, especially -racetam family Nootropics, regarding social anxiety.

+Piracetam also potentiates any other substance taken with it. This includes alcohol, caffeine, nicotine, psilocybin, and other drugs and substances. It is thought that Piracetam increases blood flow to the brain, and throughout the brain. This is thought to be the reason for the potentiation effect of Piracetam. Piracetam is to be considered to have the same effect as an MAO Inhibitor, in this regard.

*I always mention using a stack of Piracetam and Choline, because without the Choline, I seem to get a fogginess of the mind, and sometimes a mild-to-moderate dull headache. However, if I take the Choline with the Piracetam, this negative effect does not appear whatsoever.

The only other negative, or drawback, is the short-acting timeframe of the effects. I find I must re-dose approximately 5 hours after ingestion in order to achieve the full effects.

I would say definitely take the racetams! Be sure to stack with Choline.

The most amazing aspect of Piracetam, is that it is not harmful in megadoses! There is no lethal dose!

With the informed GLP'eople here, regarding health and diet and vitamins and herbs and supplements, I would think many people would also have interest in Nootropics...aka Smarts...aka Smart Drugs!

i mostly used oxyracetam with the choline bitartrate in some water, and i'd put some ani- and pram- in a lil shot of organic raw hempseed oil. i was never very scientific about it, i didn't worry about x mg i just used my tiny scoop and intuition. it would be in the 200-800mg range. i found it more useful to spread doses out over the course of the day. methylcobalamin helps a lot but must be taken sublingually.

as for why i chose the ones i did - that's what the supplier had and what my research indicated would be beneficial. the bitartrate was the cheapest, is water soluble, and has a pretty good bioavailability. smells terrible lol. alpha-gpc should work better but is more expensive. i also got some DMAE but didn't really mess around with it yet.

I love the pramiracetam! It is by far my favorite. Kinda expensive tho.

Piracetam, for whatever reason, makes me unable to type very well tho! I'm constantly hitting keys way too early with my left hand.

I love the focus that Methylene Blue brings also.

OP you should definitely check out Phenylpiracetam [link to en.wikipedia.org] . It's a bit pricey but it is worth the money. I take it before I work out and the mental focus, clarity and just over all awareness is great.

It's about 30-60x more potent than piracetam.
