Yah, the Other Egyptian Moon God


It is interesting that the earliest references to the name Yah (Yaeh) refer to the moon as a satellite of the earth in its physical form. From this, the term becomes conceptualized as a lunar deity, pictorially anthropomorphic but whose manifestations, from hieroglyphic evidence, can include the crescent of the new moon, the ibis and the falcon, which is comparable to the other moon deities, Thoth and Khonsu.


Of course, the complexity and controversy of Yah stem from the term's similarity to the early form of the name for the modern god of the Jews (Yahweh), Christians and Muslims, as well as the fact that their ancestors were so intermingled with those of the Egyptians. In fact, this distinctive attribute of this god makes research on his ancient Egyptian mythology all the more difficult.


The high point in Yah's popularity can be found following the the Middle Kingdom when many people immigrated from the Levant and the Hyksos ruled Egypt.

History teaches us that the Canaanite/Egyptian deity Yah was once personified through the crescent moon.The oldest Egyptian deity Osiris (Asar) is personified with the moon as Asar-Aah who the Phoenician/Semitic Hyksos (eventually to be known as the Hebrew - meaning "to cross") revered as YHWH after their expulsion (biblical Exodus).

I don't know why, but pictures/video of Saturn always freaked me out. I get this creepy ominous feeling. Who knows, it might just be cause the planet is yellowish but the rings are in greyscale and they don't look REAL! Or maybe my intuition is just telling me something is off about that planet. I was always drawn to saturn even at an early age. Saturn being the ruling planet of Capricorn, it was always nice to me. Taught me many of it's secrets indeed.

interesting to note that there was a transit of venus visible from Saturn on 21 December 2012 photographed by the Cassini probe and widely distributed by NASA.

I think Saturn and Venus are used to keep us anchored in the 3rd dimension, venus only makes a two dimensional pentagram when the solar system is viewed as a 2d disc instead of the spiralling beauty which it really is...
