Not totally true. I have a family member who will be continuing to work 6 days a week, but will not be paid for their overtime.

My cousin's uncle's barber's mechanic has it upon good authority that some of these federal employees who have prudently saved up assets and vacation leave are looking forward to these four day work weeks.

They aren't going to be fired. It'll be like a vacation, I think they'll even be able to collect unemployment.

Our military-industrial complex is bloated. But of course it's an important part of our economy and some states economically would collapse if there were real layoffs and cut-backs.

Government can't SUSTAIN jobs. It doesn't "produce" anything, therefore any jobs the government produces only comes during a time that taxes are being paid that ALLOW for there to be jobs through that activity.

The worst part of this news is that these 800,000
are support staff for the military.

Well all those soldiers returning from Afghanistan could take their jobs.

Boo hoo, cry me a river. It's about fricken time! We have been military top heavy for too long despite what the Constitution says. Trillions wasted and missing!

Under article 1 section 8 clause 12:

The Unites States doesn't suppose to have a standing army nor a air force. Congress can only appropriate funds for a army for a period of two years.

The true hurt party here is the Navy and Marines which are to be continually funded under the Constitution. Due to unconstitutional activity, the Navy can't change out a aircraft carrier nor deploy one to the middle east.

The American people have been ripped off due to over redundancy within national defense. Between the Navy and Marines, air force and army missions can still be accomplished. If it can't, those army or air force personnel could be appropriated and integrated within the Naval environment.
