I have been. Nothing crazy, but just wanted to get my body used to rationing food.

No I am going to eat anything I want and can afford before times get worse.Never going to ration unless I have to.
I have stocked so much stuff in the past only to lose it to one cause or another and never got to enjoy it even though the money was spent.
Now I get the most from each day.I will start being sparse only when there is the real need.

I was down to one meal and a snack for quite a while. Got my weight down to 155. the lowest i've been in 20 years. Most of us will soon have to restrict caloric intake as food becomes scarce and/or to expensive. It's good to 'practice' for the real thing. Most will be in shock when it hits. And many will lose it.

I think it's an overlooked part of prepping.

Conditioning your body will help the mental anguish when everything collapses around you, and food is scarce.

Regarding prep: There is no spoon.



Regarding fasting.
Fasting is awesome. Celibacy even better. Do both together for days on end. Pray and ask for wisdom and understanding. Read the Bible or just think about anything that you dont know or you want to know.

Then go to sleep.

So worth it.

If you are really expecting to have to ration in the near future, carrying a few extra lbs is better than practicing rationing.

I have. I've practiced going days, only eating small rations of my prepped foods. I've come to the conclusion that dehydrated meals, canned tuna and beans aren't gonna make for a very pleasurable experience. But hey, calories are calories.

I was doing the one-meal a day thing, I think it's great for you when it comes to your insulin sensitivity and long term sugar levels; however, I work manual labor at a lumber mill and by the 7th hour of the day I start to run out of energy if I do not eat. I think I would do a 1 meal a day diet if I was sitting at a desk, but if you do manual labor for a living I think you need a bit of fuel throughout the day.

I have done 1 meal a day for a long time
It is recommended a late breakfast like at 11 am then dinner around 4 pm and a snack before bed
As a catholic I abstain from meat 2 times a week
Before I knew it I was trying out my prep meals on those days
Great meals look up Ukrainian meatless recipes
Cheap few ingredients but filling foods

Fasting actually unlucks, through demethylizaztion, genetic functions left in our genetic makeup by providence, through surviving times of famine in the past(collective inheritance). Fasting actually activates segments of your DNA responsible for healing, which is why it's important not to eat before bed. This process first occurs about 8 hours after glucose ingestion.

I've felt this when weightlifting. I read today on Earthclinic website that pure coconut oil ingested is also usable by the liver, but you have to read the details on the Earthclinic website. Hope that helps.
