The National Weather Service has just issued a Winter Weather Advisory for most of the News Channel 3 viewing area.

The advisory is in effect until 9 a.m. Thursday morning.

Sleet and Ice up to a tenth of an inch are possible.

Thin layer by me. It was raining all day...before the snow and hail came...so the stuff hitting the street melts right away. But everything on the grass is still lasting. I am originally from the Midwest. it's weird to have a white backyard in Arizona!

Gilbert is outside Phoenix. Not normal at all for the valley. higher country it would be, like Flagstaff or Show Low..but those are around two hours away and much higher elevation.

Synoptic Situation: At 10am AEST Thursday, a low pressure system was located off the southeast Queensland coast, about 385km east-southeast of Brisbane, and was moving slowly to the southwest. The low is expected to cross the northern coast of New South Wales during Friday.
Dangerous surf, and possible beach erosion, is expected to continue along the exposed coast between Cape Moreton and the New South Wales border. Locations that may be affected include the Moreton Bay Islands, and the Gold Coast.
Damaging winds, with peak gusts of up to 100km/h are forecast to develop about the coast and ranges south of Cape Moreton and east of the Great Dividing Range this afternoon and may continue into early Friday. Locations which may be affected include the Gold Coast and the Southern Border Ranges.

This has definitely been an interesting day. I'm in NW Arkansas, and we've already had 1-2 inches of snow (which has already melted!), and tonight we're supposed to have freezing rain, sleet, snow, thunderstorms by morning, and more freezing rain! What the fuuuggg?! lol

BTW, the wind has picked up here a little and the rain is moving in.

Hunkered down here in Tuscaloosa, AL. Hopefully we never see one here again like we did almost 2 years ago!

Yep I'm in Brisbane, the wind is quite gusty right now and light rain. Some of our most beautiful beaches were already wrecked from the last batch of bad weather a few weeks ago.

Dear Lord! Thank God you lived to tell about it!!!! Lets hope none of us see anything like that over the next few days!

The southern track is going to get rain. The forecast out of Mobile has flood warnings for Thursday and Friday. They're not committing to severe weather yet.

I don't know what the heck is wrong with the weather people. When you have a warm front and a cool front that are attached to the same low-pressure system there is always a danger of severe weather. I would much rather give people a heads up and give them time to prepare, than hope and pray and wait until the weather is a few hours out before warning folks. I think it's better to look like a fool by yelling the sky is falling and have nothing happen, than say nothing at all and have people hurt because they were unaware of what was potentially headed their way.

I know, right? The Atlanta forecast just has a flood watch for the weekend. I have a feeling a LOT of forecasts will change tomorrow. I even checked NW Ohio's forecast. Just a little snow. Anything new from the chasers?

Yep, its in the 30s here at the moment, will be in the 60s tomorrow. We haven't had many evenings/nights in the 30s this winter here.

I had a dream last night about a thunderstorm over a city with intense lighting and two tornados hitting it at the same time.
