The comments are interesting, most notably the fact the door stays open for no good reason, then mysteriously shuts once she goes.

Also the timer freezes around 2:55 then the door shuts, hotel worker edited themselves out of it?

Why is there no other footage, hallway cameras?

The door began to close after she first pushed the buttons but stopped, most likely a hotel worker locked the elevator right after she entered it and then unlocked it after they edited the video.

2 things she is trying to get away, she is high on something maybe drunk, and the elevator can an employee be in charge of that somewhere else

The 1927 Hotel Cecil is a downtown landmark (and happens to be part of Pantless Alley). Now it is branded as "The Premier Choice of Affordable Downtown Los Angeles Hotels." In addition to offering hotel rooms, it houses the modern Stay on Main hostel and roughly 300 low-income residential units. Now, it is full of convention attendees and tourists from all over the globe. It has also been the site of quite a few commercials and movie filmings this year. But, before the re-gentrification of Downtown Los Angeles, the Hotel Cecil held a dark part.
According to the Los Angeles Times, in 1962, a woman leaped to her death from the Hotel Cecil and in doing she also killed a pedestrian on which she landed. Two years later, the Pershing Square "pigeon lady" Goldie Osgood was raped and killed in her room at the Hotel Cecil. Her case remains unsolved.

According to LA Observed, the Black Dahlia, Elizabeth Short, is alleged in at least one book to have hung out at the Hotel Cecil and drank at the bar next door before she disappeared in 1947. But this "fact" is disputed by cultural historians Kim Cooper and Richard Schave of Esotouric.

In 1985, when rates were as low as $14 a night, Richard Ramirez, the "Night Stalker" lived for several months in a 14th floor room of the Hotel Cecil. After being caught and arrested, he was convicted of killing 14 people throughout Los Angeles. He is currently on death row in San Quentin State prison.

I find it odd that the hotel has to put out notices to drink the water and stay at the hotel at your own peril, but they are NOT forced to shut down?? Watch the first CNN video from the link. Um, murder investigation, anyone?? They're not shutting down the hotel?! I guess shit like this happens way too often at the Cecil...

Sometimes I wonder if realities aren't layered over one another, like an onion, maybe she perceived another reality and was interacting with others in it and the camera could not capture them, hmmmmm, or she could have just been high, sad, so young, she seems like she could have afforded a better hotel, I came across a photo in google that suggests she was an artist, maybe she was in tune with her muse? If she was being pursued, why didn't she press the close door button? Instead, she walked back into the hall, it appears as though she is trying to get attention while in the hall. Maybe she was carrying out a fantasy where she is a damsel in distress trying to avoid detection by the walking dead or ghosts. Truth is stranger than fiction. Zoomed Pics of her face, that are clearer, show a faint smile, I think.

Skid row is on San Pedro (the epicenter is SP and 8th)... Main St. is not skid row, and it's perfectly fine during the day, and just moderately sketchy at night.

Main St. and Spring St. have changed my leaps and bounds for the better just in the past year alone.

That said, a young girl shouldn't be walking around there alone at night.

she pushed many different floors in the elevator yet it didn't move. after she got out it moved. who would be able to control the elevator? security? someone watching and seeing she is alone and trying to force her into the stairwell?

I dont think so.She keeps pushing the buttons to hold the elevator for some strange reason like she is waiting for someone else to get there.At one point she is in the hall waving her hands around like she is speaking to someone thats out of view.I dont see anything that looks as if she is afraid.Acts a little whacky but not really that strange.

Do we know whether she had a mental illness? Schizophrenia or bipolar disorder? Maybe she was away from her parents and not taking her meds.

She could have been hearing or seeing things ... she may have even thought she was getting into a hot tub or something if she were really delusional.

I think it was a worker that did the deed.. The tank is in an area only workers know of.. That TB thing really has rocked me.. Too strange.. She pushed the buttons to get somewhere other than where she was at. If it stopped on all floors she could pick the safest exit and trick the person coming after her..

no matter what they do, the water will always taste

They need to drain the lines and install a new tank.. ASAP.. The cops should do dusting all over it.. Drinking a crime scene is liable on both the hotel and police..

I would sue the fook out of them!
