North carolina legislators need a wake up call, or to just drop dead with their baby boomer mentality. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 23795302 That used to be the theory. Is Stam the future of the Republican party? [link to northcarolina.tenthamendmentcenter.com] From numerous interviews and statements it is obvious that Rep. Paul ‘Skip’ Stam Speaker Pro Tempore thinks that we should obey and submit to whatever the federal government says. He has repeatedly said that the Supremacy Clause makes federal actions unchallengeable and the law of the land. Is he right? The answer is clearly No! The Supremacy Clause reads: This Constitution, and the Laws of the United States which shall be made in Pursuance thereof; …shall be the supreme Law of the Land. Only laws made in pursuance of the Constitution – that is, in keeping with the powers enumerated to the federal government – stand as legitimate laws. All other acts are usurpation, and by definition null, void and of no force. An illegal act cannot stand supreme. In fact, it is criminal and should be punished like any other crime. Further, he states that the “Civil War” settled the issue of states standing up to the federal government. This is like saying that a woman beaten by her husband or boyfriend must submit and accept whatever he demands from now until the end of time. Is that what Rep. Stam really wants us to believe? Since Skip Stam is a lawyer, he would have been or should have been taught in law school that you are not legally bound by anything you are forced to do through violence or threats of violence. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 23795302 United States 02/21/2013 09:23 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I was just writing to let you know how much of a horrible job you're doing representing the state of North Carolina. Is it not your job to listen to concerned citizens and react to their desires? Is it not your job to be a representative of the people. So you would think, one as educated as yourself, would understand when people call and write in concerning medicinal cannabis and its benefits not only for it's patients but for your state's economy you would listen, not hide behind a decision to quell any debate on the subject. Cowardly, ignorant, and selfish is how I (and many others) view your decisions. You do not act in the desire of your citizens, for how could you? You listened for 20 minutes on the subject. Your state is full of elderly and dying baby boomers much like yourself. They come to you looking for help in their time of need, and you turn your back and won't listen. You are only helping to drive big businesses further by forcing your citizens to consume dangerous pharmaceuticals and fuel the black market. You should be ashamed of yourself and retire now. You could have helped save countless cancer and pain suffering North Carolinians the financial burden of buying pharmaceuticals, and put a estimated $40 million into North Carolina's economy. The bills have been in the house for 5 years now, and this year you decided to quell it before too many realized how smart and wise the state was becoming. Thank you ignorant old man, you have lead your state into another dark, pharmaceutical infested, poorly funded year. I hope your salary takes as big of cut as your conscious and karma is, for ruining countless North Carolinian lives (both financially and physically). I hope on day, when your state's inhabitants realize how poor of a job your are doing and remove you from office, you realize how ignorant your recent decisions have been. I pray for your citizens who suffer because of your choices. Concerned American. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 17952489 United States 02/21/2013 10:30 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | i imagine that NC will be one of the last states to change marijuana laws. Quoting: Oyster as a smoker i have come to terms with this. I've run into several CMPD officers who admittedly couldn't care less about busting stoners. Which is good, seeing as we have much larger fish to fry. I am noticing the "culture" more and more. This morning I was sitting in traffic beside a woman with an infinity's end sticker on her car. I watched her for a minute, trying to figure out why in the hell someone would put an implicating decal on their car for all to see. Sure enough, she sparked up a bowl right beside me...no effort to hide it, couldn't care less. The QC is quickly becoming a liberal bastion. Increased tolerance is the only benefit I see in this. Happy toking, fellow charlottean. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 34930287 United States 02/23/2013 01:24 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | If Stam is waiting for his email to slack off.... [link to control.mpp.org] As you might have read or heard, a state representative in North Carolina killed a medical marijuana bill yesterday because he felt he and his colleagues were being “harassed” based on the volume of emails and calls they were receiving in support of the legislation. This is unacceptable. Our democratic process depends on citizens reaching out to their elected representatives to let them know where their constituents stand on the issues. Not only is this type of civic engagement appropriate, it should be encouraged. If anything, such a high volume of calls and emails in support of the medical marijuana bill should be considered a sign that this is an issue worthy of public debate. Please send a message to Rep. Paul "Skip" Stam asking him to apologize for equating calls and emails from constituents to being “harassed,” and requesting that he call for a hearing regarding medical marijuana. |
