Re: Coffee Klatch
Hey, guys. Sorry I haven't been posting when you've all been on. It's been a tough couple of weeks and it's just getting tougher. It's been really good to read y'all's posts. It's nice to know there's a good, "real" world out there right now. Mama, I'm SO glad you have the 2x4's handy!LOL My doom is just compounded family doom. I'm hardly paying attention to the other stuff, except to read it. I leave the forum up while I do stuff in the house.

I just wanted to let y'all know I'm still here, but for now, I'm just reading again. It's hard to type out all the stuff I really wish I could tell you. It's nothing really, really bad, just overwhelming. Besides, if you think my great American novels were long, this stuff would end up being War and Peace! Hubs and I still have the coughing crud and THAT makes things harder to deal with, too. Not enough sleep, too much coughing. They keep saying it's allergies, but it's not. I've had allergies for years and hubs never has. This isn't allergies. We've tried just about everything and nothing's helping. Reading this back, it doesn't make the most sense, but I'm not going to re-type. I hope it makes sense to you.

One thing, guys. Hang on tight to your loved ones. They're being influenced by people that you can do nothing about. If you pray, pray like you've never prayed before for them. If you don't, do what you do. Let them know how much you love them every chance you get. AND...on that note, I'm going back to lurking for now. I love you all very much.

Hmmm. Thanks for the advice, TB. We'll be waiting for you to come back. You have my email and phone number. If you need to talk....anytime. Don't forget.

If you haven't tried Ben Gay or some form of menthol on the bottom of your feet, covered with socks while you sleep, try it. Should help the cough.

Hard enough to get by these days. Family probs, lack of sleep and sick isn't good. 1st things first. Get well.

I know alot about compound family doom. I've been fighting for my grandaughter for the past 5 months, dealing with my homeless pregnant daughter, and trying to eek a living out of very little income at the moment. Hang in there! I am with you in prayer.

So good to hear from you. You certainly are having it in spades. You make the rest of our troubles seem insignificant. I thought by now your grand daughter would be back with you from your last post. How is that progressing?

They work at a snail's pace. Most of the time they never return your calls, are off for several days, or on vacation! It's been very frustrating. They expect you to jump through their hoops, and when you do, it's somehow not good enough, and they want you to do more. Prayer, and you guys, are the only thing keeping me from loosing it!

OG - we are all sending hugs your way. Yes, they are really slow. I learned that with our foster daughter. Spent months trying to get answers. Unfortunately for her, because she is over the age of 13 they would not do anything so we just make it up as we go along.

Wow. Nothing but good thoughts for all.

TB- wife had a terrible cough & congestion thing that would not go away. FINALLY saw her Dr. and got a Z Pac and a steroids shot that fixed her up in days.

Have you tried Tessalon Pearls for the cough? They work really well to quiet the cough but are non narcotic. Of course the best thing is to eliminate the cause. The world has been so overwhelming lately, I don't blame you a bit for just reading for a few days.

I know the Vegas trip was truly good for my soul. Great friends and a lot of down time. The house was beautiful and we just stayed out by the pool and hot tub during the day then went into the strip for the concerts. Never even gambled! I came home with $100 bucks still in my wallet. Would have been more but it's $8 for beer and $12 for a mixed drink. Guess they get you either way.

Kenny was awesome! He played for 2 1/2 hours, no opening band. The venue was fantastic, smaller so it only has a max of 4,000. It was at the Hard Rock Cafe in "The Joint", great sound quality. I think it's the best place I have ever seen a concert. They really do a great job. Bon Jovi was at MGM and the sound quality there is not great. There were 15,000 people there for the concert and the exit was like cows in a chute, I did not like it. His show was pretty theatrical with lots of lights and stuff, but really loud. Over the top loud.

I find it at the regular grocery store, refrigerated section. Either by produce or "natural foods". Go here:

and type in your zip code, they will tell you what stores have it.

I find it at the regular grocery store, refrigerated section. Either by produce or "natural foods".

Even better! I thought it sounded familiar, but I'm not sure if I saw it in my town or the city. Either way, I have to go to both tomorrow. I'll find it. Thanks, SO.

No luck, SO. Nothing within 50 miles. I'll ask the people at the vitamin store if they have something similar. It's kind of a health food store inside a drug store. Really cool place.

They should have something similar. These might be west coast brands since it's a refrigerated item.

TB- just talked to someone in town that said 40 mph winds, dust of course, and temp. headed to the 20's. Gotta love Texas weather, ha.

SO--glad you had a nice Vegas trip. I have always heard the Hard Rock is the best concert venue. I really enjoyed Ka' at MGM for the production value. Amazing what they can do with that 360 degree rotating/tilting stage. My buddy and me caught the Elton John Red Piano show at Caesar's 2 years ago and enjoyed a lot. We joked about all the queen couples in line with us. Shows are rare for us as we struggle to beat the slots or play craps and video poker along with too many Bud's.

The crow has been back twice today knocking on my french doors in the family room. I tried both times to sneak out and video, but it flew away to the trees.

Hi Flava - the Tessalon Pearls are a non-narcotic cough medicine. They are little round liquid pearls, like a vitamin d pill. I think it's the same medicine in the over the counter cough liquid, but stronger. The green drink actually tastes good. It's thicker like a smoothy, but tastes like fruit.

I think the birds are there for your entertainment and let you know they will watch over you.

Hard 8 - It really was a nice trip. The concert at the Joint was the highlight. I will definitely go there again. I have heard the Cirque shows are fantastic. I haven't seen one but I did take my girls to the movie and that was amazing - they took bits and pieces of all their shows and stitched it into a story.

Re: Coffee Klatch
Ok, guys. I have to do this or I'll explode. I apologize in advance for typing out my version of War and Peace.

It's been crazy around here since baby K was born. I'm going to leave out some stuff that might identify people, so I hope this will make a little sense.

On the day dil and baby were released from the hospital, dil's father dropped a bombshell on the family. First thing to remember, he WAS a pastor of a church at the time. A woman went to the police to file charges against him. It was of a sexual type, but that's all we know. Evidently, it had happened at his other church, too, but the woman didn't file charges. Whatever it was, it is bad enough that they wanted to move out of town right away and dil's father lost his job as pastor. The kids live with them right now, partly because of financial reasons, but I think, mostly because dil is an only child and really doesn't want to move out. That's big problem no.2.

Because her dad couldn't keep it zipped, both kids have had to give up good jobs. Not great ones, but my son thought they would be able to get back on their own next spring. Lot's of bad decisions all around. I didn't think they should've gotten pregnant now, but what do I know? Dad is making crazier and crazier decisions all the time now, and the rest of the family is starting to lose their temper around him. That triggered dil's post-partum depression. Her doctor is on top of that, though. Son had a city job, with retirement, insurance, decent pay and dil had an ok job with the school. Now they've lost all of it. Son had been offered a job with the big city, but had to turn it down because it would've been a month before he got paid. He does have a job doing heating and air that starts next week. He's the only one working, so he really didn't have much choice.

It's always been awkward around dil, she really doesn't know how to be around people that aren't her family. We've tried everything, but she just won't let us in to get to know her well. I was afraid of this happening. My closest cousin was an only, and she did almost exactly what's happening now. None of this is going to end well. Dil and her mom have both told the dad/husband that if it happens again, they're gone and he'll never see baby K again.

We've offered many times for the kids to move in with us, but dil just won't hear of it. We offered again, when all this started, but we don't have room for her parents. OR the desire to house the parents, either. Dil wouldn't leave her parents. I don't think she ever will, either.

To add to all of that, now I have youngest son coming back home from college with a large student loan in a month. Our sil had offered to co-sign for the loans, but changed his mind a couple of weeks ago. We would sign, but don't have the credit to do it. Since '08 it's almost impossible to get loans without a co-signer. Youngest is at the do or die place, too. He's got 3 sememsters left. We're working on that one now. Hopefully, we'll find something.

NOW, for the cherry on top of the sundae. Hubs put in his notice at the hotel. I really can't go into all of that, but the owner is a foreign-born citizen and he's up to something. We're just not sure what it is. There's a TON of crap with this story. We'll still have his retirement, but it's not quite enough. We'll be able to pay bills, but nothing left for emergencies or niceties. Plus, there's the worry of what the gov. is going to do to the mil. retirements. Hubs age is against him now, too. But, he's smart and very good at a lot of things. I'm sure he'll find something soon. He really needs a break. He's been losing weight, because of his schedule. He works 7 days a week, sometimes 16+ hours a day. Lots of times, really. I miss him. That's part of why I'm here so much. I never thought when we bought our little house in the middle of nowhere, I'd be here alone.

So, anyway, before I get totally maudlin, I'm going to stop. This is the Reader's Digest of War and Peace. There's lots of other little stuff, but all of this has been just in the last month. Thanks for letting me vent.

Re: Coffee Klatch
WOW TB,
So sorry to hear about all of this! Seems likes lots of crossroads coming. That is terrible about the Pastor! One action of his cost so many people so much!

I feel for your son! Not an easy place to be in. I wouldnt want the in laws either living with me!
Sounds like he will always be in that predicament though with her.
Im sure hubs will find something. Anyone who works 7 days a week 16 hours a day is very marketable! Enjoy his time off as it may not last long.

So glad you shared this...you know you can always come here to vent!

Adding you to my prayers!
