Re: Coffee Klatch
I dont like goat cheese, but tonight pete made quiche, broc and cheddar. Yesterday he made a swiss, guyere sp?? and ham, had a slice, got home from work and there was one slice left, the kids chowed down on it, so he ate the last peice and made one with veggies thinking it would be safe, half of its gone and it came out of the oven less than half an hour ago.

I made liposomal serum with peptides and sea algea. Cant wait to try it tomorrow and see how it is. I have so much other stuff on my face right now I cant use it tonight.

I have been on a serum formulating mission! I made a vit B hydrating acne serum and gave it to 3 of my daughters friends who have acne and got rave reviews from them all. One of them is gonna host a party for me cause they all want to buy some. I am hoping to get the party thing off the ground and then get someone else to run them for me. I like to be home at night with the hubby

Quiche is yummy! I get lucky when I make it, the family doesn't eat much so I get the leftovers.

I love goat cheese. Not that I want goats, I've got my hands full as it is!

I've only had the store bought kind and some of it was good, but most, I didn't care for. I've been told homemade is the best. Lots of hispanic ladies here make it. I figure if I only get a couple, I could handle that. I almost talked hubs into some pygmies, but we have to put up the fence again and get the donkey, too. I'm working on it!LOLOL

Out here they use goats for vegetation control, they even eat the poison oak!
 Quoting: Southern OR

That's mostly why I've wanted to get them. To keep the weeds down in the back acre. Our weeds tend to kill mowers, but I have a feeling it was really my guys that killed the mowers and one small tractor!

Flav, I am SO impressed with the things you do. If you figure out a way to bottle your energy, let me know? I could use a little extra!

I'm starting this week that way. I'm blaming it on the cold, windy weather!LOL I'll be outside tomorrow, though. Got to. The roots are starting to grow in the bags. It barely made 70 today and tomorrow, no wind and 80! Yeah!!!

Oh, SO, I have been doing some very heavy chemistry reading and there is scientific evidence that lechithin and linoleic acid would be very good for your skin. The latter is in canola oil, and if you got some lechithin granules, one tbsp per 2 oz of water, let it sit for an hour or two, stir, smells like shit but is very hydrating. Smear some of that on your face, wait a min or so and then some canola, just a few drops, and hit the bed.

Nice hydrated skin in the am. You can look to see what other oils are high in linoleic acid if you dont like the idea of canola, but I know that and cottonseed oil are high in it.

Re: Coffee Klatch
I am happy to hear that SO. I have had a really hard time reading and comprehending some of these more technical terms, but I do finally get it eventually.

I am making the liposomes via an ultrasonic machine that is oscillating so fast it encapsulates the active ingredient within the lechithin for deeper penetration into the skin instead of just the first layer. Heavy hitter stuff!

Liposomes deliver up to 300 % more of whatever it is you encapsulate.

I even learned how to make a liposomal C to drink that is as potent as intraveinous vit C, not that I could gag that down! I have been practicing with inexpensive stuff and have now graduated onto the higher priced better goodies for skin.

I have a question. I am gonna make some pest repellent spray and I want to know, if I put herbs in water or oil and sit on the window sill or cook them on real low for several hours, which is better water or oil?

also.. if I do this do I let the herbs just sit at the bottom till ready for use or strain them out after how long?

also.. how much more or less potent is this than essential oils of the same ie rosemary eo or rosemary in oil or water?

Oh wow, Flav. Such a short question should have a short answer, but it doesn't. My tinctures are alcohol based, started at the new moon, shaken every day and finished at the full moon of the same, or following month, depending on different factors. Then they're strained and the excess alcohol pressed from the herb. To strengthen, it's triturated. This doesn't really have anything to do with cosmetic things though.

Water, I wouldn't use unless it's very short term because it would need a preservative. Bacteria loves water. Don't know about cosmetics, but I wouldn't consider it for anything beyond something to be used as soon as it was made.

Since we're talking different purposes, the same "rules" probably don't apply so it's hard for me to answer. My experience is limited to arthritis salves, calendula salve for scrapes, wounds, etc.

For those, you want the product "carried" to heal.

Oil is a carrier and easily absorbed. It carries the the product and absorbs deep. Most insect repellents aren't something you want "carried" into your body. Also, an oil is probably going to have to be rubbed on instead of sprayed. It's just my thought on it.

For insect repellent I'd use witch hazel and apple cider vinegar with the essential oil, but that probably isn't cost efficient for a big production or resale.

So many variables on the strength of the oils. Where the plant was grown, how it was grown, when it was harvested, how it was dried, method of extraction, etc.

Good quality essential oils are generally much stronger than decoctions or anything you can make at home. Wish I could be more helpful!

LOL. Actually I've been away and when home, been real busy.

What's Jewelry Television, a shopping channel? My sister gets into something....home shopping? On tv, she's always ordering junk. You duzzint needs no jewelry to do your work. Baby will soon be grabbing and pulling it off you anyway. Buy beans. Carry on. LOL.

Wondering today what's going on with all the military traffic. About got the roof blown off by something that sounded like Life Flight without the whine and a deeper thump thump thump. Not familiar with military equipment but pretty sure it was. It was that color green, long and skinny helicopter. LOUD helicopter. Every few minutes they were going by. Haven't had that before. One here or there, but not like that!

It's a shopping channel. We used to collect gemstones. Hubs likes the rough, you know, like geodes, that sort of thing. It's gotten too expensive for me, most of the time. I did get a few things I like alot. They probably aren't worth much, though. I missed out on things I should have gotten when they were cheaper!LOL

You're getting a lot of flights, too? Sounds like it was military. Maybe from Wright-Pat in Dayton to the reserves in Toledo? Idk. Everyone is seeing too many of them the last week or so.

No, the helicopters were headed south so it would have been "from" Toledo "to" somewhere. Will have to see if they come back this way. Should drive up there and see if they have any like that. They were super long. Never saw one that long and skinny.

Not easy having a home business and children and it's real obvious that you do both real well. Wish every child could have a Mama like you!

Yep! Thats my boy in the picture! He is so sweet and gentle and thinks he is a dog. He comes when you call him, and runs to greet you when you pull up! He is very forgiving of the little one too! Mama your kitty looks like my sassy except she has a black spot on the tip of her nose. She used to be crazy, she was a ferrel kitten, but now she is an afghan, lays on anyone sitting still.

Nines, I think I will add the EO's to some water and add a little poly 20 to them so it emulifies and stays blended. I want to test this stuff out on people, dogs and horses.

The dog soap I made kills fleas on contact instantly and had an EO blend that I made. It should kill lice and supposedly kills ticks too, but we havent had any so I cant say for sure.

Pete got scabies the other day on his arms from triming bushes and I had him lather the soap on his arms and leave it for a few mins and bam, no more itch and it was a done deal.

Anyway, I thought why not use it as a spray since soap washes off and a spray wouldnt. My neighbor who has horses wants to try it on her horses and see if it keeps the flies off.

Also.. Mama, Nines, or whoever has it, when the jewelweed comes please harvest some for me :)

TB we are now getting your crappy weather! As for beans, we have enough here to light up a large city if you know what I mean.

I keep all my crystals and rocks under my bed aligned with the chakra's that they go with or the body part they enhance.

Flav, if your spray works against flies, let me know. My poor Buddy gets terrible bites from them every summer. I've bought stuff from the feed store, but they never carry the same stuff every summer. I've got to get over to your site again. Too much going on here right now!LOL

Segue to the baby update! Tuesday is still the day. We'll know the time after dil's dr. appointment on Monday. I have a feeling they'll do a c-section. She hasn't dilated anymore, still just a fingertip. The dr. will tell the kids on Monday. This is killing me!!! It was easier delivering my own kids!LOLOL When my daughter had Em, I was with her the last 2 weeks, so I wasn't nervous for her. She had a textbook pregnancy, too.

Making things even more fun...my youngest decided to go to NYC on his own for spring break. He does have a friend there, so that's not too bad, but I just found out he's staying in a hostel. That last cord just doesn't want to let go! He's trying to cut it and I'm trying to hang on to it. Not intentionally, though. Why doesn't anyone tell us how hard it is BEFORE we have kids!?! It doesn't help that I'm a worrier, but I really have gotten better about it.

Anyway, just thought I'd let you all know the latest. I think the butterflies in my stomach are turning into dinosaurs!LOL I'll catch up with you all when I can. I'll probably leave this on for awhile and go back and forth, while trying to look busy!

OHWWWWEEEEE Baby excitement! They might give her the damn petocin that speeds up labor, hope not for her sake unless shes getting an epidural. They try not to do C sections now adays like they did in the past.

As for your son, its probably the only affordable place in NYC to stay! He's probably in some cool spot in SOHO or the village having the time of his life with some chinese people trying to sell him knock off watches and wallets.

Oh and the food, worth the trip just for that!

My mom told me all my adolescent life that having me was like shittin a watermelon, probably why I was the last of my friends to get pregnant!

As for the website, I suck at keeping it updated, theres lots of stuff not on it. Anyway, the soap works awesome so I figured since its an EO blend thats in it and it kills the fleas on contact, why not put it in a spray for the dogs, then the lady down the road asked for some soap for the horse and said she wants the spray when I make it to keep the flies off. It does have neem oil in it too, so you cant put it on cats. I never wash my crazy cat, I have the feeling if I did I would come out on the bad end of the stick. Shes a fickle one.

Re: Coffee Klatch
My cats don't usually have trouble with fleas. We have had trouble with ticks before, but not the last couple of years. It's the flies that bug the dogs! Bud has short hair and they think he's the tastiest thing! It was worse with my other 2 outside guys. I'd give Bud a bath, but he's terrified of water. I don't know why, he just runs and hides in his dog house when we have the hose out or the sprinkler running. When my other 2 were still alive, they loved getting wet, especially when it was hot! When I tried to get him wet, he'd just roll in the dirt and get really muddy. Then he'd really need a bath!LOL Blonde and muddy! Nice combo!

Got anything mixed up that works on skeeters? THEY love ME!
