Now I know exactly where you're talking about. It's in Licking County, a nature preserve, right? If that's the place we're talking about, I won't be near there.

Where I'm going is Shawnee Forest. Shawnee is over 60 some thousand acres, but it isn't in Licking County. It's way south of there in Scioto County at the very bottom of the state.

It's still dark here and I'm going to go back to sleep shortly. Just couldn't resist getting the (temporary) last word!! I know! We worked in a pretty large area in the s/sw part of the state. Enjoy your weekend down there. You should go see the gorge sometime, though. It's huge and very cool!! Ok, back to sleep. No birds yet, either.

Maybe just having a reasonable boss and more time with hubby will make it much better. Is the house far from the job?

Hi Flav! Yeah, when it's this hot, I have a hard time going to sleep once it cools off. I'm usually drowsy during the day. Maybe siesta makes sense. It seems to for me! LOL I've always been a night-owl anyway, it's just worse in the summer.

Current boss finds out today. Ought to be interesting. He thinks new boss is his best friend. New boss doesn't think so, though. He doesn't have much respect for old boss. He can't find out right away that hubs is going to work for new boss, either. New boss doesn't want old boss to think he was poaching hubs. New boss didn't, but it might look that way to the old boss. That all sounds confusing, even to me! Sorry, hope it makes sense.

We were warned about snakes, but my team never saw any. A couple of the other teams did, though. It was probably the very best job I've ever had. It made me want to be a park ranger, but my mom didn't think it was a good idea for a girl. She only let me take the spot because she hoped I'd hate it. I ended up not being able to go to college for it and became a housewife instead. It's one of those I wonder what if kind of things.

It does. It has been really hot here too, but I could never sleep during the day, phone rings off the hook!

All these doom threads are really something. Closing all the embassies and all, something is up for sure. Scary times! Guess it wont even matter if FUKO gets us all in the end anyways. Are things any better with your son, his wife, and her family with regards to you?

it's a little better. I don't let people NOT talk to me, if I can help it. Especially if they're just being a turd! We're all going to get together on Saturday. I'm glad, because it'll be some time before we're all together again. I'm really nervous about leaving youngest son up here alone, though. I don't like us all being so far apart. After we get settled, I'm going to be ordering stuff from you. It's a lot hotter, drier, and the water is salty. Not a good combination for my poor skin!! I wonder what kind of gardening I'll be able to do with salty water. That's why there isn't any grass down there. I thought it was because it's in the desert, but it's because of the salt. I'll look into it after I get there and can talk to some people. It has to be possible, they grow cantaloupes down there.

Your younger son will be fine. He will realize he misses you when your gone. Being away at school is different from being home alone.

When you come home for visits he will be eager to see you.

Something must grow in the desert, not sure what but I know you will figure it out.

I'm more worried about my poor house! LOL He's already got it into his head what changes he wants to do! He was talking about changing light fixtures, tearing off wall paper, ripping up carpet. All things that need to be done, but not HIS way! It'll be ok for now. I can't find the stuff I want to put on the walls right now anyway. I wanted to put the wall board that has the wallpaper print on it, but one of the mega companies bought up all the small ones. Now you can only get a couple of designs and they're yucky. I told him as long as he doesn't mess with the electric it should be ok. He won't do anything anytime soon, I can't get him to clean his bedroom!

Well, maybe with any luck he can strip the wallpaper off and save you a lot of work in the future.

I know, big dreams small results! My son is the same way, he is going to build this huge coral looking thing in his fishtank and do this that and the other thing to it. Well, its been 6 months, a couple hundred bucks and the damn thing is still sitting in the garage half done.

I don't know about you, but I can't even grumble to my mom about it! LOL She just reminds me of stuff my brothers and I used to do (or NOT do!)

I cant grumble either, not because of your reasons, but because she just wont give a shit.

I will get some new age bullshit from her like, you cant stifle creativity and he has no control of when it comes and goes, he will finish it when he gets another creative spark

I was an only child of a new age single parent so I grew up pretty good by age 6. She has no clue of what real parenting is like.

I cooked dinner most nights by 2nd grade just cause I got home from school before she got home from work and if I didn't cook dinner, it was some disgusting chopped veggie, hummus, god knows what thrown into a blender, turned into a smoothee and served for dinner.

God I loved eating at a friends house!

Even the lunch ladies at school would give me 35 cents each day to buy the school lunch. They saw what mom packed me, saw me sitting there eating only the piece of fruit in my lunch, at first told me to eat the rest of my lunch, till I said would you eat it? Once they saw it, they gave me money each day. They felt sorry for me. Mom was the type to send some wonderful "fish stew" cooked in stewed tomato and spinach, with some salmon thrown in.

To this day I cant even stand the smell of salmon

Yikes! I'm sorry, Flav. That would totally piss me off. I never thought I'd be grateful for a strict, German upbringing. I like some of the holistic stuff, but can't handle the new age life. It just doesn't work for me. I don't like judging people for their beliefs, but I can't live with that kind of life. Sometimes I wonder how we all ever survived our parents! I REALLY wonder how my parents survived theirs! LOL Now THAT was strict!

I understand. We had boiled potatoes with everything! Even hot dogs. I still don't like them and only make them when I'm being lazy. I usually make mashed or baked. Pork chops were a mainstay at our house. They used to be really cheap.

Yeah, mom still has her Tuesday morning meditation group, everyone knows not to try to reach her until after noon on Tuesdays.

She and several of her friends sit pow wow style and listen to different primal beats on tape and meditate. Its a trip to watch, I made the mistake one day of forgetting, thought I would surprise her for lunch, and walked into that! A bunch of 70's plus ladies meditating all over the living room. Geez this is the stuff nightmares are made of!

I can tell you for sure it was worse! Not saying you look bad in a suit either TB, now theres a reason to like your desert home, no water :)

Lol, bathing suit...not going there. We are going to stay at a hotel on the river this weekend. I booked it hoping to see the meteor shower without city lights, but looks like we will still be smoked in. My "bathing suit" is jean shorts and a tank top.

I sure hope you guys all know just how much I love and appreciate y'all! One thing I DO know. I may move, any of you may move, but we'll all still be here for each other as long as the forum exists! Gotta go do the critters, it just got dark. BRB.

TB- Can't remember Pecos but sure I've been thru. Famous for melons, esp. cantaloupe. Infamous for salty soil and water. Ag is big and maybe oilfield nearby. So different, huh? Ha

Buddy sells ice and water in Hobbs at The Waterin' Hole. He services a lot of grocery and C-stores in the area. Friends since 5th grade. THink he distributes for Reddy Ice also.

Dang, hubby and I must be getting old. This morning I woke up and told him happy anniversary. He said, I think it's tomorrow. Thank goodness they have old calendars online to settle when it really was. Yep, I was right - it's today! Happy Anniversary to us!
