Awww good story Nines!

Glad Hoot was found! Good boy Pupster!

I am amazed at how smart these dogs are every day! It really is incredible!

I told Big Bear to go wake up the little one with me and she hopped right into her bed and started licking her face! It was like she understood every word I said!!!

Re: Coffee Klatch
Animals are amazing aren't they, we humans should learn a thing or two from them.

My DH always says watch the animals. He does our bug stuff for the yard based on birds landing on the grass and we always have the nicest yard. He says when the birds land there are bugs and he must be right cause my neighbors yard is full of birds and looks like shit.

Yup and yup again. Your husband is quite the guy and you are as smart to have chosen him as he was to have chosen you. Very wise man to watch the animals. They know.

Yeah, I don't have a lot of faith in our president and his advisors. I also don't feel like he has the best intentions for the American people in his heart and that's what scares me. I feel like we are going to be stabbed in the back by our president and his stupid little congressional puppets who are to friggin stupid to read the bill!

Re: Coffee Klatch
Hi Guys! I've been absent for a bit but I think I'm caught up now. A very good friend of ours was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma. It's blood cancer that attacks the bones. We have been helping out where we can and it's been hitting us a bit hard. He is 50 and has kids a bit younger than ours. Trying to do what we can to help out his family. Hubs has known him since junior high and I have known him since high school. It's a sucky disease, no cure. He already has multiple bone fractures and lesions in his arm (which broke), back (multiple fractured discs), and ribs. Hoping for remission through chemo and other drug combos. No cure, remission is the best hope. Don't want to be Debby Downer, but that has been where my head is so I just stayed off the computer for a bit.

I'm sorry to hear it, SO. Has to be hard on you, but I'm glad you're ok otherwise. Have been thinking about you with the fires and all the smoke.

It sure is good of you to help them right now. So many times a friend is a friend, til a friend is needed. Then they're gone.

Good for you, even though it has to be hard. World needs more people like you.

Thanks Nine's. It really hit us hard. We have known him forever and our families are really close. We do what we can to help out. He is the sole financial support of the family, but he works for the state so he has good benefits. Today they found out his sick leave/disability will only cover his base salary and not include overtime or hazmat duty (he is a geologist for the road dept). They will lose about $1500 per month in income. We are working on some things to help with that though. Good news is his out of pocket is only $1000 so that has already been met so no further bills for treatment this year. Times like this really thins the "herd" of friends. Some people just don't hang in there during the tough times.

Re: Coffee Klatch
Has to hurt you a lot.

That 1500 is going to make a hurt on them. It's good he won't have more medical bills, but when you're accustomed to a certain amount, regardless of the amount, it's noticed when a chuck of it disappears.

Nice of you to try to find something to help them through that part, but even if you aren't able to, you being there is worth more than any amount of money.

It sure does "thin the herds," and one of his blessings is a friend who hung in there with him. It's not something he or his family will ever forget.

We had some rain dump down so that has helped a lot. It was really bad with the smoke for about 3 weeks or so, this last week has been good. You reminded me that it's time to change the filters out on the system, they have to have gotten clogged with all the smoke. It was like foggy outside but it was smoke. Everything smelled like campfire, inside or outside.

Our friends are very thankful. It's funny how the little things really make life easier.

Probably the military backround. Hard to watch the powers that be decide the future for an enlisted person. This is why I read the thread rather than comment. Sometimes I get so mad seeing what the government is deciding is what is good for the world. Shit, they can't even balance a checkbook!

I lurk on that thread too.
As for the checkbook balancing they don't have to because we don't have a friggin budget!

He is an asswipe. I am gonna go thru the budget line by line and get rid of waste. Really... guess monthly million dollar vacations are not really waste, and neither is this peter pan mentality of take from the rich and give to the poor, the only problem is were not rich anymore but the poor are living the same lifestyle as me and not doing shit to earn it. Wheres the incentive to self betterment? I guess if someone gave me what I make now and 800 a month for food I would probably be happy to sit at the beach all day with my taxpayer funded sunscreen and burgers beachside.

I'm betting you are more like me. I don't want someone to "give" me anything. I just want to do what I do and make an honest living. I think most of us here are like that. I could go for the sitting at the beach part. Ass in the sand and cold beer in my hand. I just want a week long vacation!

yeah your right. I just get pissed that theres not a 2 or 4 yr limit on welfare and it should be in crappy housing that makes people WANT to get out and motivates them to do for themselves.

I wish that guy, cant remember his name Dr. Ben __________ the brain surgeon, would run for pres. The one that embarrassed big O a few months ago when he was invited to speak and said he came from the projects, dirt poor and his mother made him and his brother stay in after school and read till they got A's even though she never learned to read. He called him out with the govt handouts and he was exactly the type that could have received them but his mom worked several jobs instead of taking welfare. That is the kind of common sense we need in our govt.

I gotta go to bed its late here. See you tomorrow

Re: Coffee Klatch
OK, so hopefully you know which type hand and foot treatment I got.

Yesterday, I got two mosquito bites and Pupster got a tick on him.

It was the itchiest ever and I kept scratching til it was starting to bleed. Was putting lotion on my feet anyway, so put a dab on the mosquito bites. It instantly stopped itching. INSTANTLY. No stinging, burning, nothing, just stopped itching.

While I'm marveling over it, Pupster was scratching away at where his tick was latched on. I put a dab on him. He too, stopped itching.

Not going to name the type I got or the ingredients. If you don't have it in your records, I'll PM you with it, but you seriously need to check out the ingredients and figure which one/ones have that effect because you've got the worlds best anti itch cream.

After I used it, neither of my bites, or Pupsters, itched again last night. One of my bites itched today and Pupsters tick bite itched today. Another dab of cream and neither of us have itched for hours.

Am wondering if it counteracted something in the bite, if it would work on other bites, if it would work on other itches. Didn't know if you were aware, but you seriously need to give it some thought and study.

Re: Coffee Klatch
It was the intensive hand and foot treatment right? I love that stuff. I think you said it took the callous off your hands and you needed it for your barn, you were gonna try it on your feet.

That is really weird that it stopped the itch, just a bunch of oils and butters in there, off the top of my head I cant think of any botanicals that I put in there other than the essential oils. What scent was yours, maybe that's what did it.

Don't you have frozen jewelweed or some salve for that kind of thing?

I am glad to know it stopped the itch instantly. Read the ingredients, do you see anything that may stop itch?
