Secrets of the sisterhood
Underneath the smooth sweet chatting and innocent seeming comments lurks judgement, jealousy and envy,
men often do not see it,
but it is there,
I know it.

I can feel the tentacles of manipulation groping towards me,
even as they tell me how good I look,
I know if I looked bad, they would like me better.

Re: Secrets of the sisterhood
There is no sisterhood, women betray their own kind, betray themselves. We desperately need comradary amongst women, but there is little if any. We go through so much but wont help eachother out, that's a dammed shame.

Re: Secrets of the sisterhood
Did it used to be like this back when our great grandmothers and grandmas were young? To an extent, I think so because women are just mean, but then I think social moires of the time made it less obvious and having to go to church for social activity at least made people occasionally be nice to each other less they feared being ridiculed.

I think this lack of whatever it is is why we no longer know our neighbors, no longer have physical friends and think it's acceptable to be mean to one another. There isn't a sisterhood, because there isn't much of anything left.

Re: Secrets of the sisterhood
This is an interesting thread. I often feel that women have an easier time sharing emotions with each other and there is this sort of Borg-like "womanhood" collective that they can withdraw into for safety and comfort. On the other hand, whenever an element of competition or jealousy enters the picture, women seem even more frighteningly at each other's throats than men do. Both men and women are competitive but it seems to me the male version is always more visable on the surface, while the female version is hidden but erupts violently from time to time.

The lack of sisterhood existed in our great grandmother's time as well. Women have always been competitive with each other.

Just have to seek out like minded individuals for support!

Even then it's terribly hard, lol. I sew; want to see women at their finest? Go watch them pounce on one that doesn't own a $$$ machine or they don't like for whatever reason. Taken me quite a few years, but I have 2 women friends. Period.

I was referring to the open meanness that women seem to do to each other.

yes church or synagogue has a moderating effect, but let's look at

Rachel and Leah, two sisters, unlucky enough to be both married to Jacob, in Genesis in the Old Testament.

unhappy, sniping, one feeling unloved, the other feeling barren.

One man marrying two sisters was not permitted even in those days,

but even without that situation, women are not each others' best helpers very often.

2 friends for me, too.

Work is interesting - it provides contact with other women, but for me, no friends.

Re: Secrets of the sisterhood
Deceit and betrayal are not gender limited.. i found them in different three forms;

1* The power elite.

2* Wicked women.

3* Wicked men.

I wrote this when i acquired my conclusion... it's a prophecy of the angel of death, the Destroyer to come, the one who will work the harvest of doom.

Silent Rage

Silent rage, lying still, frozen and forgotten
Buried deep beneath the snow, the spawn of hell begotten.
Silent rage dreams of days the doors of hell fly open
A rushing river flows so hard those doors are bent and broken.

A rushing river raging wild, wealthy man beware
High and haughty, rich and wanting, at last you'll learn to share.
All you've kept for your cold crept, will testify and tell.
All the good you could have done will drag you down to hell.

And wicked women, ranting, raving seek to bring men low
Contention, strive, violence, vice, the stitches that you sew
Wail and weep, scream and screech, your tears cannot conceal
When silent rage comes of age, your rotting souls revealed

And son of Cain, seed of shame, who sought your brothers crown
Your jealous mind, your spiteful kind spilt blood onto the ground.
Who killed the Jews, who slew the saints, who crucified my soul.
The blood you shed was royal red, a Spirit pure and whole.

But the times will come, and very soon, when I'll rise up from my grave
And hell will fly and follow me and put you in your place
But until those times, screams of silence, at my cold coffin claw....

'God help you all! God help you all! when silent rage begins to thaw'.

Eli/Eli...1997

Sisterhood is alive and well KK! And how've you been?! hf

Hard for me to express how grateful I am to the wonderful women I call friends in this world.

I just haven't experienced the whole competitive/negative thing. And once we become friends, it is for life.
