Secrets of the sisterhood

I can feel the tentacles of manipulation groping towards me,
even as they tell me how good I look,
I know if I looked bad, they would like me better.

It is the ones who are more 'successful' who are most adept at this psy-op battle,
yesterday it crushed me, today I reject my own judgements over again and clear my clouded grey eyes to blue skies once more :)

There is no sisterhood, women betray their own kind, betray themselves. We desperately need comradary amongst women, but there is little if any. We go through so much but wont help eachother out, that's a dammed shame.

But perhaps it is not entirely intentional...

For you to 'see that' it has to be within you first.

Did it used to be like this back when our great grandmothers and grandmas were young? To an extent, I think so because women are just mean, but then I think social moires of the time made it less obvious and having to go to church for social activity at least made people occasionally be nice to each other less they feared being ridiculed.

I think this lack of whatever it is is why we no longer know our neighbors, no longer have physical friends and think it's acceptable to be mean to one another. There isn't a sisterhood, because there isn't much of anything left.

This is an interesting thread. I often feel that women have an easier time sharing emotions with each other and there is this sort of Borg-like "womanhood" collective that they can withdraw into for safety and comfort. On the other hand, whenever an element of competition or jealousy enters the picture, women seem even more frighteningly at each other's throats than men do. Both men and women are competitive but it seems to me the male version is always more visable on the surface, while the female version is hidden but erupts violently from time to time.

The lack of sisterhood existed in our great grandmother's time as well. Women have always been competitive with each other.

Just have to seek out like minded individuals for support!

Even then it's terribly hard, lol. I sew; want to see women at their finest? Go watch them pounce on one that doesn't own a $$$ machine or they don't like for whatever reason. Taken me quite a few years, but I have 2 women friends. Period.

yes church or synagogue has a moderating effect, but let's look at

Rachel and Leah, two sisters, unlucky enough to be both married to Jacob, in Genesis in the Old Testament.

unhappy, sniping, one feeling unloved, the other feeling barren.

One man marrying two sisters was not permitted even in those days,

but even without that situation, women are not each others' best helpers very often.

2 friends for me, too.

Work is interesting - it provides contact with other women, but for me, no friends.

I hope you don't think we are all like that. Sometimes I don't understand you but I miss you and I always have cared for you.

I think you need some better girlfriends.

My friends all support and encourage each other.

Deceit and betrayal are not gender limited.. i found them in different three forms;

1* The power elite.

2* Wicked women.

3* Wicked men.

Sisterhood is alive and well KK! And how've you been?!

Hard for me to express how grateful I am to the wonderful women I call friends in this world.

I just haven't experienced the whole competitive/negative thing. And once we become friends, it is for life.
