NEW ORLEANS, March 14 (UPI)-- Two New Orleans high school students were arrested in separate incidents for allegedly trying to bring weapons into their schools, police said.
The students -- both 17-years-old -- were jailed Tuesday, The (New Orleans) Times-Picayune reported.
In one incident, a male student named Charlton Porter tried to walk into L.B. Landry High School with a 9mm handgun and 34 bullets, police said.
Porter was arrested and charged with illegal possession of a firearm at school, possession of a firearm in a firearm-free zone, and first-offense illegal possession of stolen firearms, police documents showed.
The other student, a female named Devinione Alphonse, brought a razor blade to John McDonogh High School and chased a male student around with it, police said.
