Glad you brought it up.

Snip; WASHINGTON Absent an early deal to raise the nation’s debt ceiling, the federal government could run out of ways to pay creditors and Social Security recipients by mid-February, earlier than expected, according to a new analysis released Monday.

Among the unpleasant choices to help stave off a default on U.S. government bonds could be temporarily halting tax refunds, or choosing to pay the Chinese government and other bondholders rather than send Social Security checks to elderly recipients, according to the authors of the report.

Snip2; One of the big question marks is whether the Internal Revenue Service could or would be used to bridge funding shortfalls by delaying tax refunds due to millions of Americans.

They won’t start owing us interest till 45 days after April 15th BUT that’s non compound interest for sure and I am pretty sure that interest rate is based off the federal funds rate which is at 0.25%!

That's the only one's I've heard of getting returns so far, and according to the link I provided and my accountant, they won't even take a full 1040 right now...

Yes I got my check two days ago and I filed using freetaxusa.com web site the first week of Feb.

I was truly amazed as I didn't expect it until much later, had heard that refunds were delayed.

Because it was part of an extension tax bill.

The following filing date of the extension revert back to the old tax code.

This is not a new tax bill. The bush tax cuts was a temporary tax bill when he signed the bill.It was not a new tax code.

The bill said as soon as the temp tax rate expired in 2010 all tax filings would revert back to the proper tax code.

The temporary tax relief bill as bush called it at the time , was signed at the end up the year , and everyone filed under the new bill the new year. It was written as the same when it ended. Obama just extended it . Everyone was suppose to go back to the old tax code in 2011 filing.

All I can say is, Thank God I don't have a big refund coming, just a capital gains adjustment from last year on some option contracts amounting to a few hundred dollars...

Because the accountants here in Texas can't even electronically file a 1040 right now...they won't take it.
