South Korean Prime Minister Retires After Launch of New Government
SEOUL, Feb. 22 (Yonhap) -- South Koreans are set to have the longest-serving prime minister, who has been widely lauded for his gentle but resolute leadership, after the country introduced the direct presidential election system in 1987.
After 29 months in office as the country's second in command under President Lee Myung-bak, Prime Minister Kim Hwang-sik will retire from his 41-year public life on Monday upon the launch of the new government.
