How come so many Canadians and other non-Americans seem to
1) know a lot about our politics, economy, and other bs
2) know more than the average Americans
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 34981985

fuck off dipshit, this world is intimately connected through the internet, and since American culture has spread everywhere most people around the planet know a lot about America and our politics.

the average american is generally quite misinformed so your argument is utter shit.

I have been hearing this same info for 40 years.

You people have got to understand that it will not be an overnight transformation.
Why?
Because people around the USA and the rest of the world will take to the streets and cause too many problems for the government to handle.

IT's called SLOW DOOM.
That is what has been happening and will continue to happen. Why should they speed it up? It has been working for decades now and they just need to keep doing what they are doing.

I've started threads about this very fact but no one seems to want to hear it.
Everyone is STILL looking for this overnight take over of the government.
NOT GOING TO HAPPEN.
They don't need to. What they have been doing is working fine.

As long as you and I are willing to take this SLOW DOOM that they keep feeding us... it will continue. A nudge here and a nudge there, and we all just take it in stride because most of us think there will be some sort of starting gun that will alarm us that we need to do something.

I have given up on humanity. They are too stupid to know that they are being SLOWLY manipulated into the total government take over.

I am not going to get into meta-physical issues because that is not what this thread is about. No matter what greater War is going on in the higher planes for our soul energy, we still need to walk our meat bodies to the fridge for a beer here in this 3 dimensional (with 4th intersecting) 'reality' that we are trapped/exist in.

Re: The Trigger has been pulled, the Crash has begun. How are things going to play out? My take...
We have obviously crossed the threshold folks, things are falling apart by the day and the game of Kick the Can has at long last gone as far as it can. The rest of the World no longer has a choice, the United States is no longer the big bully on the playground who won WWII and their fingers are no longer so firmly around the throat of the planet. The long lunatic nightmare of Bernanke monetary ponzi schemes cannot continue.

It will be interesting to see what their plan is to try and switch the U.S. (and possibly the World) to a new currency system. My take?

There will be an immediate bank holiday across the board, stopping all transactions of any kind in all avenues of banking and stock markets. This will likely happen on a Friday afternoon, and there will be no warning. A temporary state of martial law will be instituted, in which people are told to basically stay at home as though they are taking a sudden 'cheap holiday' and things like trucking of supplies of normal groceries and the like will be the only thing still going on under strict military rules, keeping all emergency supplies of diesel available to those lines of credit used for that infrastructure. Military escorts of supply convoys will be the only thing moving on U.S. highways for perhaps several weeks until they restart the engine under the new rules. Police in all cities will be given total freedom to 'shoot first, ask questions later' for any deviation from total movement restriction of citizens. Examples will be made, and the media will carpet bomb the public with this message.

The U.S. will lock down the dollar (both digital and paper) to a complicated SDR basket of currencies around the World, the Canadian dollar will figure heavily in this. This will obviously include devaluation across the board of many world currencies, and some of the currencies (like our Canadian dollar) will also be strictly controlled during this time (wanna know why we care so much? 90% of our economy is still directly tied to you Yanks) The U.N. and IMF will be token heads of an emergency council that all countries of the World will have no choice but to agree to (barring a few examples in the Middle East and North Korea, Cuba, a few South American countries, etc).

Debt restructuring will be performed from top to bottom. The 1.4 Quadrillion derivatives bubble will pop like the veritable tree falling in the forest that no-one hears. The wage structure of the entire United States will be chopped off at the knees when jobs are 'started' again, and people are going to learn rather bluntly that their standard of living is going to drop by a large margin. Even when financial markets are loosened on the leash enough to make it look like things are 'running', foodstuffs and all energy (gas, diesel, natural gas, propane, etc) will be price controlled from that point on. This could be seen as an enforced Socialist military junta rule, which it is, but honestly there really is no choice.

Production of goods will continue by force if necessary, people will clamor to the new low wage positions because they won't have a choice. It is either that or starve.

Inner cities could collapse entirely during the transition period, the military in all forms will setup blockades around zones in these areas and food rations will be handed over in exchange for firearms and ammunition. It doesn't even bear mentioning the horrors that await some areas during this period. Within two weeks of supply infrastructure collapse things like rape, murder, and cannibalism will be commonplace. People are exactly three square meals away from becoming savages, it is as simple as that. In San Fransisco there are 17,500 people per square mile, I won't go into lurid details but let's just say there will be shoot-outs in the local 7/11 for the last bag of Doritos a lot sooner than most people think.

The morality and legality of such a stance is irrelevant - the military industrial complex cronies still have their hands on the joysticks to the drones. The side holding the bigger guns makes the rules. It is too late for a general strike or any kind of mass civil disobedience similar to Argentinians banging their pots and pans together. We are way, way too dependent on the system, and therefore completely at its mercy.

Disarming vets and taking their weapons aways from them is outrageous and scary. Why now? What's going on that they are too afraid to allow Vets to keep their guns?

Something is very, very wrong. Why now? What's the hurry? Why at all when this goes against the Constitution.

Suggestions:

Set out to be as self-sufficient as possible.
Grow food in flower pots if you have to.
Propane heaters with plenty of back-up fuel
Propane camper stoves
Water
motion sensor lights and lots of batteries
Dehydrated food (soups, veggies, fruit, drinks (milk), etc.)
Canned meat (chicken, fish, beef, pork)
If you didn't know eggs can be frozen for long term storage
Peanut butter, jelly, pancake mix (can be used to make rolled up sandwiches)
oatmeal
rice
sacks of potatoes, apples, oranges, carrots
coffee/tea/cocoa

If there is left over cash sitting in the savings buy silver 1 oz coins. Down the road it's going to skyrocket.
 Quoting: Alexander

I have a question regarding PMs. In a collapse scenario, how feasible is it to actually transact with your silver/gold coins? It seems like more immediately consumable commodities would rule in such a scenario. Right now I see silver/gold as merely a hedge against inflation... but if the whole thing goes kaput, what value is silver? Wouldn't you just hold it in hope that you could trade it for the next liquid currency?

I'm seriously asking here - please set me straight on this! I'm in a quandary as to whether or not to buy PMs.

 Quoting: mikebo2

I agree. In fact, "overnight takeovers" typically happen between government factions, after the slow doom takeover has occurred. It happens when the victors begin squabbling over the scraps.

There's simply no need to engineer a collapse to usher in greater control. People are accepting government control over their lives. Whether its using google services controlled by the NSA, or Kinects that pass household information to various corporations, or GMOs, black boxes in cars, drones in the skies, gun control, economic regulation, etc. People are accepting it in the name of security and comfort. Liberty requires effort and thought - people don't want those things. They want to post youtube videos and chat on facebook and life off debt.

You see this in Europe: on the one hand you have people calling for austerity, which ushers in corporate control, and on the other you have people calling for socialist 'freedom' from austerity, which also ushers in corporate control. The deck has been stacked in such a way that most people choose a path that yields more power to the elite.

With the people begging for more control, and getting it, why speed things up?

I agree, a slow grinding spiral into DOOM.

What the Psychopaths and Malignants don't seem to have control over is Natural Catastrophe.

The other issue some of the creatures are unable to comprehend is inherent collapse.

The Psychopaths and Malignants may have some affect in creating "apparent" Natural Disasters, but when a real one happens they can be blind sided just like anyone else.

It is their uncontrollable GREED, and LUST for POWER that the human being can use as a tool to crush the Psychopath.

Folks have got to find ways to use GREED and POWER like bait in a RAT TRAP.

Money is the only issue and the majority of this generation is beyond selfish and has gone cold and greedy. So don't say tyranny or blame the government. We let this happen and we are responsible. Stop pointing the finger elsewhere.

I think a few superpowers will just chisel away the ownership of a few countries in the Euro and hold them hostage until their weapons purchase debt enslaves them.

Suggested immediate course of action:

1. Arm yourself.

2. Stock pile food, water, seeds and meds/first aid supplies.

3. Get in shape.

4. Learn as much Chinese and Russian that you can.

5. Get right with God.

OK so I'm "armed" first, so I can murder someone that asked me for a meal, just before I die to face God.

Did I get that right?

Ummm, excuse me please, but I think the "immediate course of action" I'll take first is to "get right with God".

Way more better! Not that I'm lazy or anything, but it sounds like a lot less work to me eh!

Re: The Trigger has been pulled, the Crash has begun. How are things going to play out? My take...
Please relax -the market will never crash as long as companies are paying dividend yield at 35+ - far greater than any bank cd in town. Demand for bank deposits - to achieve a real interest rate has transferred to the stock market - where one can achieve 3% per year by holding wal-mart for example... this is without taking into consideration any price movement. Your theory does not take into accoiunt how thew market adampted over the past 8 years.

NEXT!!

It would be interesting to see what kind of spillover effects would happen in Canada, considering that 90% of its population live within a two-hour drive (or less) from the US border.

I could well imagine hordes of Americans trying to get across the border and into Canada, and its military and police forces would be overwhelmed trying to deal with all the refugees simply because there are too few soldiers and cops to handle such a task.

Methinks most border crossings would be heavily barricaded to try to slow down the influx, and bridges might even have to be blown - think of the crossings located at Sarnia, Windsor, and Niagara Falls, Ontario and others along the St. Lawrence River between New York and Ontario. But all of these measures would require significant advance notice and careful coordination between the US and Canadian governments.

It'd be a nightmare, for sure.
