First of all, thank you OP for this thread! It provides me with much hope and positive inspiration.

I just now did a good deed actually, this thread is very timely, which is no coincidence... I saw a homeless person sleeping in a hidden spot downtown... I left a Tim Horton's food gift card for them to find when they wake up. I hope this will lift their spirits when they find it! It's not really about the food...it's about how I can make them feel better. Soul food, if you will.

I wanted to comment on a few things said by other posters. Someone else said "It's not about beating someone else's good deed or who is more giving, its all about doing something you love to do." I agree exactly. Myself, I know that I love to help others, and to be kind to others when I can. So I am grateful that I had a chance to do this today, in the smallest of ways.

Someone else said that when you speak of a good deed, it negates the good effect. Maybe, I don't really think so. Because even if you are doing it for purely "ego selfish" reasons...well, you still did a good deed, didn't you? :) And I also think that you can "amplify" your good deed by inspiring others to do likewise. Which is why I am posting on this thread, anonymously, to tell the story...I probably wouldn't have said anything about it otherwise however, in this case, as a personal choice. But I hope this thread and my story added to it inspires people to do even the smallest of good deeds, and to add them to the discussion. It makes me feel great reading about the other big and small things that people have done.

Thank you.
