Quoting: biscuits and gravy Most assuredly these are Brain Injury Personnel who'll spend the rest of their lives in institutions or living with family members with the family member being the "Payee". I am a 100% rated Veteran, this letter is a "Form Letter" its goes out to all Veterans, the ones that deny this, never took the time to read every word of the letter. Just like when you get a "speeding ticket", it gives the Penalty fee and states if you fail to appear in court or pay the ticket, a bench warrant for your arrest will be issued and you could spend 1 -5 years in prison and $10,000 fine etc... etc... Are you disabled due to PTSD or Service related? I am 50% PTSD and this worries me and it's absolutely unjustified. It could be a very incidental step toward gun control. This guy didn't seem to have a brain injury. Do you always ban people who speak their minds? Semper Fi bro, ain't free speech wonderful? |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 30891577 United States 02/22/2013 10:09 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Biscuit, the great obama has signed all sorts of executive orders, many of which were specifically targeted at mental health. It is no secret that vets coming back from battle overseas at least experience some degree of trauma, whether that be mild depression to PTSD. EOs are only applicable to the operation of the federal government, and these letters are likely going out to select vets who either have claimed some sort of psychological ailment, are physically incapable of handling their affairs because of bodily injury, have demonstrated (through their credit or payment history) that they are not able to handle their finances (which is, as you know, a big no-no in the military), OR can reasonably be considered a high risk for mental illness (which can be selective OR very broad - depending on who is handling the paperwork). Now, take a look at what our government is doing, what they are saying about our vets (now considered high risk for domestic terrorism and are surveillance targets), how they are arming up domestically, and what they DO know about the level of training that veterans have in combat. The number of combat hardened and very capable veterans outnumber active duty military and LEO by a factor of approximately 10 to 1. Now, do you honestly believe that there is no contingency in place by the powers that be to at least buffer this percieved "threat"? I honestly am ashamed of this government who would percieve Vets as a "threat". But it is what it is. I look forward to your response. |

Squatch Hunter User ID: 25765147 United States 02/22/2013 12:22 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I've often wondered how DHS would verbally assault veterans since most of us hold them in such high esteem. But the spectre of mental health & Gun Control is now center stage on the National scene. The issue of PTSD seems to be the perfect vehicle for that marginalization. So, I'm not discounting the validity of these reports. We should take a wait and see/verify approach. I wouldn't doubt for a minute that TPTB won't latch onto the Chris Kyle murder as well as other murders & suicides via returning vets who are afflicted with PTSD as a reason to disarm them. Like everyone else, I've been watching the propaganda build for years. The target of the marginalization program has always been people who oppose Global Government, A Centralized Police State & the Destruction of the Bill of Rights. Hence, it only makes sense that DHS and its partners would demonize veterans. Afterall, they are central players in any internal rebellion should it occur. biscuits and gravy (OP) User ID: 1072087 United States 02/22/2013 12:30 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Over the years, the DHS, its advisers and threat fusion centers have identified several classes of potential domestic terrorist threats. Among those are Gun Owners, Constitutionalist, Militia Members, Ron Paul Supporters, Chuck Baldwin Supporters and Returning War Veterans. Each of these groups has been marginalized in turn, with the possible exception of war vets. What possible agenda would be of value other than for people who believe this wanting to alert otthers??? Would it not be more of a service alert??? If you do not believe that this as a tool, along with others, is a reality then you are in denial. |

DSM V (I think it is #5). Preliminary reviews indicate that everyone is crazy for not much reason if they say so. Between million dollar liability insurance policies to be allowed to keep a weapon at your home and being labeled crazy because you like peanut butter or read the newspaper will become valid reasons to deny the "privilege" of exercising a God given right and get put on a list. Thank you all for your service, both prior and future. |

Normal human emotions like grief, anger, being too happy or just not complying will get you deemed as mentally deficient and unlawful to possess or own firearms. Al Franken was pushing legislation last week to start mental evaluations in kindergarten and running through college. These evaluations will get you on the list for life. |

I'm also disabled veteran (service connected - hearing loss). I receive their medical services as well and keeping an eye on what they suggest or do to me (they are always asking me for the flu shot. Amongst those personal mental questions they ask me each time I go in..... are u depressed, want to take your life, your husband hit you, do u drink, do u take drugs or over use your medication..... ) last time I was there I kind of chuckled and said no no no no no no no to everything and I said ...if you ask me if I want the RFID chip I will say no to that as well! The nurse just laughed. |
