Easy bread recipe when SHTF
I have made this but i fried mine in oil its very easy to make and taste like a cibatta bread we dipped ours in olive oil and italian seasoning
you can also make a tortilla like this

ALL you need is flour and water you could probably to this over a open flame or on a grill
Its very easy
most preppers store lots of flour

Unleavened Bread Recipe
2 cups flour
2/3 cup water
Combine the flour and water and knead 10 minutes. Cut the dough into 16 pieces. Roll each piece into a ball and flatten with a rolling pin on a floured board to form 6-inch (15 mm) circles. Pierce the dough disks with a fork at 1-inch intervals and place on an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake in a preheated 425°F (220°C) oven for 7 minutes or until discs are lightly colored, blistered and crisp

Beer bread has more nutrition (protein) and is just as easy.

Mix 3 cups flour and one can of beer, bake, done. .

Re: Easy bread recipe when SHTF
The beer bread sounds like more fun, but I'm guessing that when the SHTF we may not have any, and IF we were lucky enough to have one, we might just prefer to drink it instead of baking with it. I know I would!

I live in south have lots of yucca here is a way to make soap and shampoo and many other uses

[link to www.motherearthnews.com]

Yucca root (called a mole) contains the compound saponin, which has detergent properties and seems to exert a particularly beneficial effect on the protein in animal fiber.

And there's no reason why you can't try making yucca soap and yucca shampoo yourself, because the versatile plants — formerly classified as Liliaceae, but more recently placed in the new family Agavaceae — are found in the southwestern (and, to some extent, southeastern) United States, Mexico and the West Indies.

Re: Easy bread recipe when SHTF
also prickly pear cactus I have a ton of this
they sale this at the flea markets like candy

[link to www.wikihow.com]

Prickly pear cactus has been a staple of the Mexican and Central American diet for thousands of years. In parts of the U.S. it has been gaining popularity as an exotic, gourmet and healthy addition to one's diet. The prickly pear plant has three different edible sections: the pad of the cactus (nopal), which can be treated like a vegetable, the petals of the flowers, which can be added to salads, and the pear (tuna), which can be treated like a fruit. They grow wild throughout the American southwest, down to South America and up to Canada. The ones you may find at a local store or farmers market will surely originate from a commercial nopal farm.

Re: Easy bread recipe when SHTF
Umm so, you have electricity for a stove huh? Fancy gear like rolling pins?

A real SHTF recipe involves collecting seeds off natural grasses and wheats, husking them to get to the grain parts, grinding the grains into powder, then adding pre-collected and pre-boiled water, making the dough, maybe tossing in some mashed wild herbs for flavour/nutrition, and then baking it on top of a flat rock in a fire pit.

That's the kind of SHTF skill you'll need, not this modern kitchen crap!

Re: Easy bread recipe when SHTF
I made my bread by hand didnt use a rolling pin you can use a bottle or a can to roll out the dough if you dont have a pin available i made mine in a metal pan with oil in it i could have easily set that on a low flame and dropped the dough into it and let it fry you can also wrap it in foil and put it on a grill or even bake in the sun if need be it is unleavened so it doesnt need to rise if you had to just let it dry out and eat it uncooked its something simple to make that doesnt require alot of ingredients and will fill you up

Re: Easy bread recipe when SHTF
I still haven't dialed in my bread, it's a pain in the butt. The most challenging part for me is the time it takes to make and the fact 2mil grams extra of sugar or salt and you have a completely different bread. But then I'm a perfectionist and everything must be the best I've ever tastes "or close to it" or it's not worth doing.

I would love to practice more but I'm really not supposed to be eating grains, but I going to try some home made cinnamon rolls tomorrow.

Re: Easy bread recipe when SHTF
French bread is an easy bread to make:

In France it is, by law, only allowed to consist of four ingredients.

The difference between Italian bread and French bread is the best way to describe French bread:

French bread needs to have bread flour, only, not cake flour, nor all-purpose flour.

Italian bread has a leathery crust.

French bread has a crisp (noisy) crust.

Italian bread has more bread inside the crust.

French bread has more holes inside the crust.

Italian bread is more fattening.

French bread is higher in protein, thus less fattening.
