Dem Mayor Claims He Was Too Stupid To Know Stealing is a Crime

The former mayor of Bell, California, was too stupid and uneducated to know his $100,000 salary for the part-time city job was illegal, his lawyer argued today.

Oscar Hernandez is illiterate, has no high school degree and didn’t even finish elementary school, defense attorney Stanley Friedmand told jurors.

Hernandez and five former members of the Bell City Council are on trial, accused of stealing $1.3million in exorbitant pay from the working-class city of 35,000.

We’re told that we can’t have voter literacy tests because they’re racist. But can we at least have politician literacy tests? Otherwise we’re electing people whose defense is that they’re too stupid to know that crime is criminal.

Without politician literacy tests, every politician can just argue that he’s too stupid to be let out of the house. And in the Obama\Biden era that is no longer a disqualification for public office.

Mayor Oscar Hernandez was not too stupid to run for office or collect a huge paycheck. But when it comes to serving time, then he is suddenly too stupid to be aware of what he was doing.
