It's so encouraging that the federal government is going to help. I mean, consider how they took care of Katrina victims!!!

TB is a very catchable disease. It is carried by the air.
This is why old-time TB wards had open-sided "sleeping porches" so fresh air could carry the infection away.

It made it less likely that people caring for the TB victims would get it.

I will read the link. Any TB uptick is bad. Think of the recycled air on airplanes - not really fresh.

It is also a nasty way to go - used to be called consumption, because the people wasting away looked like they were consuming their bodies.

Also known as the white death, not sure what the whiteness is, maybe the pallor of the victims.
